Volar distal radioulnar (DRUJ) dislocations are uncommon and can easily be missed. We present a rare case of an irreducible volar DRUJ dislocation associated with a distal radius fracture and acute median nerve neuropathy at the wrist. An attempt to reduce the DRUJ dislocation in the emergency department had failed. The patient was then taken to the operating room requiring a carpal tunnel release, as well as an open reduction and internal fixation of the distal radius fracture and repair of the volar distal radioulnar ligament. We also review some of the volar DRUJ case reports in the literature.

AbstractWe treated an extremely rare case of osteoid osteoma of the pisiform. Pisiform hypertrophy caused persistent pain and ulnar nerve irritation at Guyon's canal after the initial trauma. The re-enlargement of the pisiform attracted our attention allowing us to ultimately diagnose the condition as osteoid osteoma and treat the patient with a successful clinical result.

Osteoid osteoma (OO) is a benign bone-forming lesion leading to classical symptoms in the form of pain that aggravates during the night and is relieved by the treatment with salicylates. It constitutes 10% of benign skeletal neoplasms and is seen most often in males between the age group of 7 and 25 years. We report a rare case of subchondral OO of a metatarsal bone with unusual imaging features. This case illustrates the limitations of various imaging modalities in the diagnosis of bone tumors and the need for biopsy and histopathological analysis in difficult cases.

We report a rare case of concurrent calcaneonavicular osseous coalition and osteoid osteoma of the navicular. While each pathology is relatively common, the combination of the two in one foot is rare and as such can present a unique challenge to imaging interpretation. This case reinforces the importance of the concept of “satisfaction of search.”

Abstract Osteoid osteoma is a rare occurrence in the hand, especially in children. We report here a rare case of a 12-year-old boy complaining of growing painful swelling of the middle phalanx of the third finger that had started 3 months earlier and had not responded to anti-inflammatory medication. Based on the clinical findings and plain radiographs, osteomyelitis or Ewing’s sarcoma was suspected. However, MRI revealed the typical characteristics of osteoid osteoma. The lesion was excised, and the histological examination confirmed the diagnosis. We make a brief review of the literature concerning this uncommon localization and discuss the differential diagnosis and treatment modalities.

 Osteoid osteoma (OO) is one of the common benign bone tumors but an uncommon cause of musculoskeletal pain. Its diagnosis is usually not difficult in classic clinical setup and in typical location in diaphyseal region. However, the diagnosis of juxta or intraarticular osteoid osteoma (IAOO) is challenging because of atypical clinical presentation responsible for delay in diagnosis and treatment. We report a rare case of IAOO as a cause of chronic shoulder pain to make clinician aware to help in its early diagnosis and management. A 28-year-old woman presented with chronic debilitating right shoulder pain. The diagnosis was established on CTscan after 2 years of onset of symptoms because of atypical clinical presentation as a chronic monoarthritis of the shoulder. CTscan demonstrated radiolucent nidus with central calcification with areas of surrounding sclerosis. The tumor was excised surgically and histopathologic examination confirmed the diagnosis of osteoid osteoma. So, in the scenario of an unexplained chronic monoarthritis, the possibility of intraarticular osteoid osteoma should also be kept in mind.
