At present, the degree of compaction is the main criterion for subgrade compaction quality. It is the relative expression of the compacted density,Just average. It does not adequately reflect the subgrade compaction layer vertical compaction density distribution law. Compaction boundary layer micro-unit compression pressure on in the process of pressure transmission decreases gradually until they reach the critical formation pressure dense layer. Compaction by detecting the boundary layer vertical zone layer densification, to calculate the boundary thickness, to draw isodense of densification. a clear reproduction of the compacted layer vertical compaction density distribution law. This paper describes the detection principles and detection methods of the compaction boundary layer. describes in detail functional structure and system design of the vehicle automatic detection system used to detect compaction boundary layer of each vertical zone.

To reduce the pressure of rain efflux in the airport, and make full use of the resources of rain, the adjustment relationship between seepage build capacity of the soil surface area and rain convergence is studied. The condition of constraints between surface rain gradient and emissions is analyzed, according to airfield drainage design. The method to determine the ratio of the seepage area and non-seepage area is proposed to take full advantage of the rainwater seepage build capacity of soil surface area. Experiments have been performed to study the influence of infiltration rate of compaction density to clay and silty soil. The experimental results show that the soil infiltration rate decreases linearly with the increase of soil compaction, and reduces very fast at the first 30min of rainfall. It is recommended that the infiltration rate of rainfall on the first 30min can be used as the design parameter in the drainage design in the airfield. The influence coefficient reflecting the influence of compaction density to soil infiltration rate has been proposed.

The OA-11 dam on the Eastmain River in the James Bay Region of northern Quebec was designed without conventional cofferdams. The river section of the dam was constructed by end-dumping and dozer pushing of granular fill and achieving closure and diversion of the river through a spillway located in a rock abutment on the south bank. The fill was then compacted by using the vibroflotation method. The fill thickness varied from 4.5 to 15 m, the compacted area being 68 000 m2 while the volume was about 725 000 m3.This paper gives the properties of the fill, the equipment used for compaction, the control method used to assure compliance with specifications, and the results of the compaction programme. Keywords: dam construction, compaction, density, vibroflotation, equipment.
