Cognitive radio (CR) is a novel technology to resolve the issue of under-utilization of wireless spectrum. There exists number of challenges and issues in designing and implementation of the cognitive radio. Extending quality-of-service (QoS) enabled applications to CR network is even more difficult task due to non-availability of the dedicated allocation of idle spectrum. CR imposes peculiar and unique challenges to guarantee quality of service of diverse flows in contrast to other wireless networks. This paper identifies the issues and challenges of QoS provisioning in cognitive radio networks.

Cognitive Radio Network technology is an efficient and intelligent system with the intention of detecting automatically about the availability of channels in a wireless spectrum and changing transmission parameters to facilitate more communication.In Quality of Service aware spectrum decision making system is locating the spectrum bands all the way through in view of the application necessities by means of the self-motivated nature of the spectrum bands.Here, an innovative adaptive sub-carrier allocation mechanism is proposed for Cognitive Radio Networks by rearranging the functional parameters anchored in the Proportional Resource Algorithm and Genetic Algorithm.This proposed scheme is designed to achieve a divergent performance standard for subcarrier allocation and power allocation system of the Cognitive Radio Network users. The suggested scheme is proven to be effective by maximizing the allocation of data rate for each subcarrier. Moreover, by increasing the overall network throughput, the numbers of satisfied users within bandwidth limits are maintained with the quality of service. In fact, it locates the maximum channel availability

In this paper, cognitive radio network is briefly introduced as well as routing parameters in cognitive radio networks. Due to lack of Spectrum, using not efficient methods of allocating static spectrum, in cognitive radio networks dynamic accessing spectrum is functional. Utilizing opportunistic a Spectrum requires recognition of routing parameters and metrics in cognition radio networks, which means considering fulfilling the minimum requirements of quality of service (QOS) secondary users need to use the allowed range of primary (main) users. Since primary users are prior to use the spectrum, when primary and secondary users coexist, they need to monitor the bandwidth of the authorized spectrum. One of the most important stages to excess the dynamic spectrum is to explore it. Detection of the presence of the authorized users by unauthorized users is one of the things done in this stage, which is called spectroscopy. In the next stage, we used the analyzed information I was spectroscopy, to decide on accessing the spectrum. cognition radio is defined as a smart wireless communication system, which is aware of the environment and changes its job variables like power forward, type of modulation, carrier frequency etc. using environment learning. For further explaining routing metrics, we try to compare routing metrics in cognitive radio networks and wireless network and analyze its challenges in one-way routing and in multi-route routing.

The effective design of a cognitive radio network must take into account economic and technical aspects. This article presents a commercial formulation of the spectrum by the primary operators who decide to sell a part of their spectrum to a group of cognitive users in order to earn money and to promote the efficient use of the spectrum. Three systems of spectrum pricing are compared and suggested, such as the cooperative price based on the optimization of the profits, the market equilibrium, and the competitive prices focused on the competition of Bertrand. The Bertrand model examines the influences of certain parameters of the system such as the quality of the channel based on the Nash equilibrium and the substitutability of the spectrum. The differences in the various aspects of these systems of pricing are presented through the graphs. The authors note through the obtained result that the profit of the primary operator depends not only on the demand quantity of the spectrum but also on the behavior of the primary operators.

Scarce wireless resources, lead to development of cognitive radio network as a solution to unlicensed users communication in the licensed frequency band. In response to the behavior of licensed users communication, unlicensed users communication need to change from one frequency band to another band. In this communication paradigm, the performance of unlicensed users transmission control protocol gets degraded due to the features of cognitive radio network. To overcome this, several authors suggested quite a few modifications in the existing wireless transport protocol for cognitive radio network environment. This paper gives an overview of different transport protocols used for unlicensed users’ communication in cognitive radio networks
