A floristic survey of the Lacistemataceae in Bahia, Brazil, is presented as a contribution to the study of the flora in the state. Three species of the genus Lacistema are recognized: L. grandifolium, L. lucidum and L. robustum. Lacistema grandifolium has its distribution in southern Bahia confirmed and L. lucidum is reported for the first time to Northeast Brazil, based on specimens from the Chapada Diamantina. Descriptions, illustrations, distribution maps and general notes on the taxa are provided.

We present a floristic survey of the Cunoniaceae of the state of Bahia, Brazil. Four species in two genera were found: Lamanonia speciosa, restricted to the Conquista Plateau, in the southeast of the state; L. ternata, widely distributed in the Chapada Diamantina and Atlantic Forest of southern Bahia; Weinmannia humilis, recorded here for the first time in Bahia, only in the montane forests of the south of the state; and W. paulliniifolia, restricted to the Chapada Diamatina. A taxonomic key, descriptions, illustrations, and general notes on species distribution and morphological affinities are provided.

A floristic survey of Menispermaceae from Bahia, Brazil, is presented as a contribution to the study of the flora in the state. Twenty-two taxa are recognized and analytical identification keys, descriptions, comments, distribution maps and illustrations of the species are provided. Descriptions and illustrations of reproductive characters of Curarea crassa (♀ flowers), Odontocarya duckei (♂ flowers) and Sciadotenia pubistaminea (fruits) are provided for the first time. Abuta selloana and Disciphania ernstii are recorded for the first time in Bahia. One species of Cissampelos remains unidentified, but the morphological affinities with other species are discussed.

We present a floristic survey for Byrsonima (Malpighiaceae) from Espírito Santo state, Brazil. Of the 17 species occurring in Espírito Santo, one is recorded for the first time for the state (B. intermedia). In addition, three species were considered vulnerable or near threatened (B. alvimii, B. bahiana and B. cacaophila). Identification key for all species was presented, along with morphological descriptions, photograph plates, distribution maps, and ecological notes of the studied species.

A taxonomic treatment of Tibouchina s.l. from Bahia, Brazil, is presented. Thirty-seven species are recognized, one of them in Pleroma (P. michelangelii). Four species are new records for Northeast Brazil (T. crassiramis, T. elegans, T. granulosa and T. sebastianopolitana), 25 are endemic to the state and nine restricted to the Chapada Diamantina. The treatment includes an identification key, descriptions, illustrations, comments, and distribution maps of the species in the state.

Abstract A taxonomic treatment of the genera Turnera and Piriqueta in the state of Pernambuco, northeastern Brazil, is presented. Fourteen species of Turnera and six species of Piriqueta were found in the Atlantic Forest and Caatinga, of which nine are endemic to Brazil. Turnera pernambucensis is threatened and restricted to the Atlantic Forest of Pernambuco, while T. joelii is a new record for the state. The species predominate in steppe savanna and semideciduous seasonal forest, but several of them grow naturally in anthropized areas. Catimbau National Park is the locality with the highest species richness. Tristyly is recorded for the first time in Piriqueta guianensis. Identification keys, descriptions, illustrations, distribution maps, and comments about habitat, flowering, fruiting, and morphological relationships are provided.

A checklist of the family Chelodesmidae Cook, 1895 (order Polydesmida) from state of São Paulo, Brazil has been performed based on literature and examined material from the collection of the Instituto Butantan, São Paulo (IBSP). A total of 15 genera (7 tribes and 5 genera considered incertae sedis) with 64 species are listed. Among these species, 30 presented a single one record in the state, 19 with more than one record and four recorded for the first time for the state of São Paulo, and 11 species occurring in other Brazilian states. The most distributed species is Brasilodesmus paulistus paulistus (Brölemann, 1902) with 52 records of occurrence. In addition, a complete bibliography list of the chelodesmidan fauna from the state is compiled, as well as distribution maps for all species are provided.

The Praxelinae comprises two genera—Praxelis and Chromolaena—and 19 species in Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost State of Brazil. This is the first taxonomic treatment of these genera in the state according to their current circumscriptions. Chromolaena squarrosoramosa is formally reported for the first time for the flora of the state. The names C. callilepis and C. paraguariensis are used for the first time to refer to species previously known as Eupatorium polyanthum and E. angusticeps. Eupatorium angusticeps, considered in previous studies endemic to Rio Grande do Sul and probably extinct, is synonymized under C. paraguariensis and has its geographical range extended. Two neglected names, C. elliptica and C. latisquamulosa, are re-established, and C. umbelliformis is synonymized under C. elliptica. Furthermore, C. rhinanthacea is recollected for the first time after 40 years, and C. gentianoides is rediscovered in the state after almost 200 years of the original collection. Identification key and morphological descriptions, as well as distribution maps, field photographs, illustrations and general comments on the biology, ecology and identification of the species are provided.

Although Pantophthalmidae is widely distributed in Brazil, in some regions, such as the Amazon basin, there is a dearth of studies on the family. In this work, we record the occurrence of Pantophthalmus chuni (Enderlein, 1912) and Pantophthalmus comptus Enderlein, 1912 for the state of Roraima for the first time. In addition, we provide distribution maps and photographs of the species.

The taxonomic treatment of Hirtella (Chrysobalanaceae) from Bahia State, Brazil, is presented. We recognize 14 species; H. bicornis is recorded for the first time in the state and H. prancei was originally described from this study. The treatment includes an identification key to species, descriptions and comments on taxa, as well as illustrations and geographic distribution maps of species in Bahia. An identification key to the genera of Chrysobalanaceae in the state is also provided.
