The internet of things communication protocol for devices with low memory footprint

Constrained devices are commonly used in the Internet of Things systems. Since these devices have limited communication and computation resources, communication protocols which are lightweight are needed. A lightweight protocol called Message Queue Telemetry Transport, which is a publish/subscribe messaging protocol, is utilized with the constrained devices. Hence, this paper is aimed at monitoring data by using machine-to-machine communication protocol with the help of an IoT device, Raspberry Pi.

Abstract With the gradual application of the Internet of Things technology in the field of distribution automation, distribution terminals gradually adopt the Internet of Things protocol to communicate with the master station system of distribution automation. while the master station system of distribution automation supports the access of the traditional power dedicated protocol terminal, it faces how to solve the problem which how to access the distribution terminal of the network communication protocol. This paper proposes the MQTT protocol data acquisition architecture based on the existing master station system of distribution automation system. Through the research on the transmission characteristics of power distribution service data and MQTT protocol, the message structure of the MQTT protocol carrying power service data and the source maintenance process of the equipment model are designed., It realizes the direct collection of the terminal data of the distribution Internet of Things in an object-oriented way, gives full play to the value of the existing distribution master station, reduces investment costs, and saves system maintenance workload.

The BOINC software package allows the creation of massive computational systems for distributed computing. The system is designed to use heterogeneous computing devices that are differing in hardware architecture and operating systems. The variability and versatility of the BOINC system allows its use to create a distributed system for measurement and data collection. This is done through the standard HTTP and HTTPS web communication protocol that is used on the Internet in connected devices, so called “Internet of things”.

This article proposes the internet of things monitoring and dispatching system for port based on SOCKET communication, which is through the analysis for port’s current situation, system components, operation process and communication protocol, etc. The system can fulfill real-time positioning monitoring and dispatching for port’s mobile terminals, and also fulfill real-time monitoring and management for the whole port. Eventually it can improve the total competitiveness of port by improving production efficiency of port, securing operation safety and decreasing production cost.

Internet (interconnected-networking) ialah rangkaian komputer yang terhubung secara global di dalam beberapa rangkaian dan menggunakan TCP/IP sebagai protokol pertukaran paket (packet switching communication protocol). Internet seperti benang-benang maya yang menghubungkan satu dengan yang lain, meneruskan data dan menyampaikan data dari satu titik ke titik lain. Internet tidak lagi hanya untuk menghubungkan antar manusia tapi juga menghubungkan antar benda apapun yang dapat terhubung. Cayenne merupakan salah satu platform IoT (Internet of Things) sekaligus sebagai server yang mampu menyimpan project serta mendukung berbagai jenis mikrokontroler, memiliki interface yang user-friendly dan mempunyai berbagai macam tipe koneksi dalam menghubungkan antara mikrokontroler dengan platform internet. Dalam penelitian ini dikembangkan skema untuk kontrol perangkat elektronik melalui internet dengan berbasis web dan mobile. Pengendalian perangkat elektronik berupa lampu LED menggunakan mikrokontroller arduino uno dengan memanfaatkan platform IoT Cayenne. Hasil dari perancangan adalah sistem kontrol lampu LED yang dapat dikendalikan melalui platform IoT Cayenne. Desain arsitektur dan desain skenario diusulkan sebagai pedoman bagi penelitian selanjutnya.

The autonomic Internet of Things is the creation of self-management capability in the Internet of Things system by embedding some autonomic properties, with the goal of freeing humans from all detail of the operation and management of the system. At same time, this provides a system to always operate on the best performance. This paper presents a review of the recent studies related to the design of network communication protocol, which can support autonomic Internet of Things. Many of the studies come from the research and development in Wireless Sensor Network protocols, as it becomes one of the key technologies for the Internet of Things. The identified autonomic properties are self-organization, self-optimization, and self-protection. We review some protocols with the objective of energy consumption reduction and energy harvesting awareness, as it can support the self-energy-awareness property. As the result, the protocol designs are mapped according to each autonomic property supported, including protocols for MAC layer, protocols for clustering, protocols for routing, and protocols for security. This can be used to map the advances of communication protocol research for the autonomic Internet of Things and to identify the opportunities for future research.
