AbstractN-Vinyl-2-pyrrolidone (NVP) and maleic anhydride (MA) copolymers were synthesized via radical polymerization. The synthesized copolymers were grafted with methoxypolyethylene glycol (MPEG) chains of different average molecular weights (350, 550, 750 Da). The grafted copolymers were used as surfactants in the synthesis of poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) nanoparticles in water by solvent evaporation technique. In order to further test the synthesized surfactants, the miniemulsion polymerization of vinyl acetate was performed. Two methods of obtaining miniemulsion were employed: a sonicator and a static mixer. The synthesized surfactants performed well in both type of experiments while in the case of static mixer nanoparticles with a lower polydispersity were obtained. Droplets with a mean diameter of 250 nm were obtained when using the sonicator while the static mixer led to formation of droplets with a mean diameter of 600 nm.

The effect of polyethylene grafted maleic anhydride as a compatibilizer on the tensile properties, and swelling behavior of recycled high density polyethylene/ethylene vinyl acetate/ waste tyre dust (r-HDPE/EVA/WTD) composites was studied. r-HDPE/EVA/WTD composites with different tyre dust loading and the addition of polyethylene grafted maleic anhydride (PEgMAH) were prepared with Brabender Plasticorder at temperature of 160°C and rotor speed of 50 rpm. The result indicated that r-HDPE/EVA/WTD/PEgMAH composites exhibit higher tensile strength, modulus of elasticity, and mass swell resistance than r-HDPE/EVA/WTD composites.

In this study, firstly 7-hydroxy-4-chloromethyl coumarin (CMHC) was synthesized from reaction of ethyl 4-chloroacetoasetate with resorcinol. Then, the poly(ethyl methacrylate) coumarin end grouped having hydroxyl (CEMA) was prepared by ethyl methacrylate with using (CMHC) as initiator by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) method. A macromonomer (CMEMA) was synthesized from reaction of methacryloyl chloride and poly(EMA) ended coumarin having OH group (CEMA). Molecular brush of P(CMEMA-comb-%16St) was synthesized by reaction of macromonomer CMEMA and styrene by free radical polymerization method (SRP). The structures of the prepared macromonomer and molecular brush were characterized by FT-IR and 1H-NMR techniques. The thermal behavior of P(CMEMA-comb-%St) has been investigated by TGA, and the glass transition temperatures have been measured on DSC. The average molecular weights and polydispersity were determined by GPC. The dielectric behavior of P(CMEMA-comb-%16St) was investigated as a function of temperature and frequency. The intrinsic viscosity [] of P(CMEMA-comb-%16St) was determinated.
