AbstractWe deal with instanton bundles on the product {\mathbb{P}^{1}\times\mathbb{P}^{2}} and the blow up of {\mathbb{P}^{3}} along a line. We give an explicit construction leading to instanton bundles. Moreover, we also show that they correspond to smooth points of a unique irreducible component of their moduli space.

AbstractIn the Simpson moduli space M of semi-stable sheaves with Hilbert polynomial dm − 1 on a projective plane we study the closed subvariety M' of sheaves that are not locally free on their support. We show that for d ≥4 , it is a singular subvariety of codimension 2 in M. The blow up of M along M' is interpreted as a (partial) modification of M \ M' by line bundles (on support).

Let ${\mathcal{F}}_{g}^{\mathbf{N}}$ be the moduli space of polarized Nikulin surfaces $(Y,H)$ of genus $g$ and let ${\mathcal{P}}_{g}^{\mathbf{N}}$ be the moduli of triples $(Y,H,C)$ , with $C\in |H|$ a smooth curve. We study the natural map $\unicode[STIX]{x1D712}_{g}:{\mathcal{P}}_{g}^{\mathbf{N}}\rightarrow {\mathcal{R}}_{g}$ , where ${\mathcal{R}}_{g}$ is the moduli space of Prym curves of genus $g$ . We prove that it is generically injective on every irreducible component, with a few exceptions in low genus. This gives a complete picture of the map $\unicode[STIX]{x1D712}_{g}$ and confirms some striking analogies between it and the Mukai map $m_{g}:{\mathcal{P}}_{g}\rightarrow {\mathcal{M}}_{g}$ for moduli of triples $(Y,H,C)$ , where $(Y,H)$ is any genus $g$ polarized $K3$ surface. The proof is by degeneration to boundary points of a partial compactification of ${\mathcal{F}}_{g}^{\mathbf{N}}$ . These represent the union of two surfaces with four even nodes and effective anticanonical class, which we call half Nikulin surfaces. The use of this degeneration is new with respect to previous techniques.

Abstract Let $f \colon X \to Y$ be the blow-up of a smooth projective variety $Y$ along its codimension two smooth closed subvariety. In this paper, we show that the moduli space of stable sheaves on $X$ and $Y$ are connected by a sequence of flip-like diagrams. The result is a higher dimensional generalization of the result of Nakajima and Yoshioka, which is the case of $\dim Y=2$. As an application of our general result, we study the birational geometry of the Hilbert scheme of two points.

We compare the Kontsevich moduli space [Formula: see text] of stable maps to projective space with the quasi-map space ℙ( Sym d(ℂ2) ⊗ ℂn)//SL(2). Consider the birational map [Formula: see text] which assigns to an n tuple of degree d homogeneous polynomials f1, …, fn in two variables, the map f = (f1 : ⋯ : fn) : ℙ1 → ℙn-1. In this paper, for d = 3, we prove that [Formula: see text] is the composition of three blow-ups followed by two blow-downs. Furthermore, we identify the blow-up/down centers explicitly in terms of the moduli spaces [Formula: see text] with d = 1, 2. In particular, [Formula: see text] is the SL(2)-quotient of a smooth rational projective variety. The degree two case [Formula: see text], which is the blow-up of ℙ( Sym 2ℂ2 ⊗ ℂn)//SL(2) along ℙn-1, is worked out as a preliminary example.

AbstractA trisymplectic structure on a complex $2n$-manifold is a three-dimensional space ${\rm\Omega}$ of closed holomorphic forms such that any element of ${\rm\Omega}$ has constant rank $2n$, $n$ or zero, and degenerate forms in ${\rm\Omega}$ belong to a non-degenerate quadric hypersurface. We show that a trisymplectic manifold is equipped with a holomorphic 3-web and the Chern connection of this 3-web is holomorphic, torsion-free, and preserves the three symplectic forms. We construct a trisymplectic structure on the moduli of regular rational curves in the twistor space of a hyperkähler manifold, and define a trisymplectic reduction of a trisymplectic manifold, which is a complexified form of a hyperkähler reduction. We prove that the trisymplectic reduction in the space of regular rational curves on the twistor space of a hyperkähler manifold $M$ is compatible with the hyperkähler reduction on $M$. As an application of these geometric ideas, we consider the ADHM construction of instantons and show that the moduli space of rank $r$, charge $c$ framed instanton bundles on $\mathbb{C}\mathbb{P}^{3}$ is a smooth trisymplectic manifold of complex dimension $4rc$. In particular, it follows that the moduli space of rank two, charge $c$ instanton bundles on $\mathbb{C}\mathbb{P}^{3}$ is a smooth complex manifold dimension $8c-3$, thus settling part of a 30-year-old conjecture.

AbstractWe describe a compactification by stable pairs (also known as KSBA compactification) of the 4-dimensional family of Enriques surfaces which arise as the $${\mathbb {Z}}_2^2$$ Z 2 2 -covers of the blow up of $${\mathbb {P}}^2$$ P 2 at three general points branched along a configuration of three pairs of lines. Up to a finite group action, we show that this compactification is isomorphic to the toric variety associated to the secondary polytope of the unit cube. We relate the KSBA compactification considered to the Baily–Borel compactification of the same family of Enriques surfaces. Part of the KSBA boundary has a toroidal behavior, another part is isomorphic to the Baily–Borel compactification, and what remains is a mixture of these two. We relate the stable pair compactification studied here with Looijenga’s semitoric compactifications.

AbstractAn explicit construction of a pre-quantumline bundle for themoduli space of flat G-bundles over a Riemann surface is given, where G is any non-simply connected compact simple Lie group. This work helps to explain a curious coincidence previously observed between Toledano Laredo's work classifying central extensions of loop groups LG and the author's previous work on the obstruction to pre-quantization of the moduli space of flat G-bundles.
