As we continue to examine and work to achieve trustworthiness and improved performance, our focus must remain on analyzing telework benefits gained and risks involved. The success factors involved in helping organizations are productivity, employee risk, achievement, and accountability. Combining productivity and improved performance in an analytical undertaking can lead to a complete picture of success or failure. Success relies on achieving the best possible outcome with a minimum of input, and productivity is related in that it is a concentration on the output, or what is produced. Productivity is often activity based to understand the value of inputs, outputs, and return on investments. The authors also examine factors that reduce the stress of performing every day: social distancing, flexibility, enhanced work-life balance, and worker independence. These factors can continue to be employed to lessen the impact of COVID-19-related challenges (or the next crisis) so people can focus on health and safety. Managing these stressors reduces the physical and mental input required to perform.

Abstract Birefringence production of light by natural birefringent crystal has long been studied and well understood. Here, we develop a simple and comprehensive rigorous electromagnetic theory that allows one to build up the complete picture about the optics of crystals in a friendly way. This theory not only yields the well-known refraction angle and index of ellipse for birefringence crystal, but also discloses many relevant physical and optical quantities that are rarely studied and less understood. We obtain the reflection and transmission coefficient for amplitude and intensity of light at the crystal surface under a given incident angle and show the electromagnetic field distribution within the crystal. We derive the wavefront and energy flux refraction angle of light and the corresponding phase and ray refractive index. We find big difference between them, where the phase refractive index satisfies the classical index of ellipse and Snell’s law, while the ray refractive index does not. Moreover, we disclose the explicit expressions for the zero-reflection Brewster angle and the critical angle for total internal reflection. For better concept demonstration, we take a weak birefringent crystal of lithium niobate and a strong birefringent crystal tellurium as examples and perform simple theoretical calculations. In addition, we perform experimental measurement upon z-cut lithium niobate plate and find excellent agreement between theory and experiment in regard to the Brewster angle. Our theoretical and experimental results can help to construct a clear and complete picture about light transport characteristics in birefringent crystals, and may greatly facilitate people to find rigorous solution to many light-matter interaction processes happening within birefringent crystals, e.g., nonlinear optical interactions, with electromagnetic theory.

The paper offers the first complete picture of the changing in the alloy composition of silver coins of the ancient Tauric Chersonesos. Coins from two largest collections were examined: the State Hermitage and the State Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve “Tauric Chersonesos”. In total, about 190 Chersonesean silver coins were studied by X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy. The results obtained made it possible to determine the stages of functioning of fool metallic value silver coins and to reveal the time of their transformation into conventional or credit coins. This happened at the end of the autonomous period of Chersonesos, after which silver coins were no longer minted in Chersonesos, with the exception of an episodic and controversial issue during the period of the influence of Mithridates VI.

The creative heritage of the Yakut epicteller Nikolai Ivanovich Stepanov – Nooroy (1897–1975) is considered. Particular attention is paid to his creative versatility: his skills as an outstanding olonkho-teller, talented folk singer, amateur director, one of the first producers of olonkho on stage, the organizer of the first dramatic circle “Olonkho”. The novelty of the article is new facts about the life and work of the olonkho-teller, found from separate sources. The aim was to recreate the most complete picture of the creative heritage, to reveal the multifaceted talent of Nikolai Stepanov as a carrier of the traditional culture of the Yakut people and one of the founders of the Yakut Soviet folklore. The bibliography of Stepanov, literature on his life and work, all his published works, also some manuscript materials, articles, works of folklorists G. U. Ergis, I. V. Pukhov, N. V. Emelyanov, V. V. Illarionov, composers, musical figures N. I. Peiko, I. A. Steinman, M. N. Zhirkov, G. M. Krivoshapko and others were studied to achieve the goal. The analysis of the poetics of the oolonkho “Kyun Erili” with the translation of some fragments of the oolonkho into Russian was made, as well as the classification of the songs-toyukby Stepanov by themes. Analytical, typological, historical and specific methods of research were used in the work. As a result of the study, we came to the conclusion that Nikolai Stepanov, being illiterate, was a particularly gifted, talented storyteller and folk singer, and no less talented director and screenwriter. He was a great enthusiast and innovator, had organizational skills and, endowed with a special charisma and excellent human qualities, managed to organize the first drama circle in the history of Yakutia, which attracted great attention to the olonkho, especially to the Yakut musical folklore, scholars and professional composers, who in turn created musical records of the olonkho characters' songs.

Abstract Forgetting – or variable elimination – is an operation that allows the removal, from a knowledge base, of middle variables no longer deemed relevant. In recent years, many different approaches for forgetting in Answer Set Programming have been proposed, in the form of specific operators, or classes of such operators, commonly following different principles and obeying different properties. Each such approach was developed to address some particular view on forgetting, aimed at obeying a specific set of properties deemed desirable in such view, but a comprehensive and uniform overview of all the existing operators and properties is missing. In this article, we thoroughly examine existing properties and (classes of) operators for forgetting in Answer Set Programming, drawing a complete picture of the landscape of these classes of forgetting operators, which includes many novel results on relations between properties and operators, including considerations on concrete operators to compute results of forgetting and computational complexity. Our goal is to provide guidance to help users in choosing the operator most adequate for their application requirements.

'Spain: Adolf Pawiński’s letters from his travels in Spain' was written in 1880. We are not dealing with a perieghesis in the nature of a scientific report or a sightseeing guide, but with a collection of texts written with the Polish reader in mind. The correspondence was to be published in the Warsaw press. This explains the volume’s character, content, and form. Pawiński wanted to give a complete picture of Spain, which he visited primarily as a historian, archivist, and tourist. Knowledge of the Spanish language allowed him to get closer to the Spanish world and understand it better. The description of the country is picturesque and, at the same time, historical. In Pawiński’s view, Spain is an “agglomerate”. The image of Spain is multi-faceted, based on knowledge and expressing his fascination with writing.

The debate on the decline of democracy is not new. It can be traced to the period between the First and Second World Wars, and it resurfaced during the 1970s, followed by the most spectacular dem- ocratic resurgence in human history. This lecture focuses on the current debate on the decline of democracy and downward trends in major democracy assessment indices. Africa is among the three least democratic world regions, with 42% of African countries cur- rently designated as not free. Measuring the decline or rise of democracy only by the perfor- mance of institutional politics does not provide a complete picture of the issue. Institutional politics does not account for the resil- ience and thriving new spaces where democratic vibrancy and civic engagement prevail. Examples from African countries demonstrate that democracy indices based on institutional politics alone do not account for alternative democratic spaces and practices. This paper is the edited version of the keynote speech delivered by the author at the 6th Pécs African Studies Conference under the theme “African Realities: Conflict and Cooperation”, September 23-24, 2021 – University of Pécs, Hungary.
