Abstract We consider Bekenstein-Hawking entropy and attractors in extremal BPS black holes of $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2, D = 4 ungauged supergravity obtained as reduction of minimal, matter-coupled D = 5 supergravity. They are generally expressed in terms of solutions to an inhomogeneous system of coupled quadratic equations, named BPS system, depending on the cubic prepotential as well as on the electric-magnetic fluxes in the extremal black hole background. Focussing on homogeneous non-symmetric scalar manifolds (whose classification is known in terms of L(q, P, Ṗ) models), under certain assumptions on the Clifford matrices pertaining to the related cubic prepotential, we formulate and prove an invertibility condition for the gradient map of the corresponding cubic form (to have a birational inverse map which is given by homogeneous polynomials of degree four), and therefore for the solutions to the BPS system to be explicitly determined, in turn providing novel, explicit expressions for the BPS black hole entropy and the related attractors as solution of the BPS attractor equations. After a general treatment, we present a number of explicit examples with Ṗ = 0, such as L(q, P), 1 ⩽ q ⩽ 3 and P ⩾ 1, or L(q, 1), 4 ⩽ q ⩽ 9, and one model with Ṗ = 1, namely L(4, 1, 1). We also briefly comment on Kleinian signatures and split algebras. In particular, we provide, for the first time, the explicit form of the BPS black hole entropy and of the related BPS attractors for the infinite class of L(1, P) P ⩾ 2 non-symmetric models of $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2, D = 4 supergravity.

We introduce the strength for sections of a line bundle on an algebraic variety. This generalizes the strength of homogeneous polynomials that has been recently introduced to resolve Stillman's conjecture, an important problem in commutative algebra. We establish the first properties of this notion and give some tool to obtain upper bounds on the strength in this framework. Moreover, we show some results on the usual strength such as the reducibility of the set of strength two homogeneous polynomials.

We introduce the concepts of Cohen positive strongly p -summing and positive p -dominated m-homogeneous polynomials. The version of Pietsch’s domination theorem for the first class among other results and a Bu-type theorem is proved, as well as some inclusions with other known spaces. Moreover, we present a characterization of these classes in tensor terms.

The theory of analytic functions is an important section of nonlinear functional analysis. In many modern investigations topological algebras of analytic functions and spectra of suchalgebras are studied. In this work we investigate the properties of the topological algebras of entire functions, generated by countable sets of homogeneous polynomials on complex Banach spaces. Let $X$ and $Y$ be complex Banach spaces. Let $\mathbb{A}= \{A_1, A_2, \ldots, A_n, \ldots\}$ and $\mathbb{P}=\{P_1, P_2,$ \ldots, $P_n, \ldots \}$ be sequences of continuous algebraically independent homogeneous polynomials on spaces $X$ and $Y$, respectively, such that $\|A_n\|_1=\|P_n\|_1=1$ and $\deg A_n=\deg P_n=n,$ $n\in \mathbb{N}.$ We consider the subalgebras $H_{b\mathbb{A}}(X)$ and $H_{b\mathbb{P}}(Y)$ of the Fr\'{e}chet algebras $H_b(X)$ and $H_b(Y)$ of entire functions of bounded type, generated by the sets $\mathbb{A}$ and $\mathbb{P}$, respectively. It is easy to see that $H_{b\mathbb{A}}(X)$ and $H_{b\mathbb{P}}(Y)$ are the Fr\'{e}chet algebras as well. In this paper we investigate conditions of isomorphism of the topological algebras $H_{b\mathbb{A}}(X)$ and $H_{b\mathbb{P}}(Y).$ We also present some applications for algebras of symmetric analytic functions of bounded type. In particular, we consider the subalgebra $H_{bs}(L_{\infty})$ of entire functions of bounded type on $L_{\infty}[0,1]$ which are symmetric, i.e. invariant with respect to measurable bijections of $[0,1]$ that preserve the measure. We prove that$H_{bs}(L_{\infty})$ is isomorphic to the algebra of all entire functions of bounded type, generated by countable set of homogeneous polynomials on complex Banach space $\ell_{\infty}.$

Through the triality of SO(8,C), we study three interrelated homogeneous basis of the ring of invariant polynomials of Lie algebras, which give the basis of three Hitchin fibrations, and identify the explicit automorphisms that relate them.

AbstractThe paper deals with the numerical solution of the problem P to maximize a homogeneous polynomial over the unit simplex. We discuss the convergence properties of the so-called replicator dynamics for solving P. We further examine an ascent method, which also makes use of the replicator transformation. Numerical experiments with polynomials of different degrees illustrate the theoretical convergence results.
