Effect of microencapsulated chavil (Ferulago angulata) extract on physicochemical, microbiological, textural and sensorial properties of UF-feta-type cheese during storage time

Abstract Chavil (Ferulago angulata) extract (CE) and microencapsulated chavil extract (MCE) were added to UF- Feta-type Cheese. The aim of this study was to comprising CE and MCE on physicochemical and microbiological properties in cheese. The scanning electron microscope images demonstrate the MCE had elliptical shape. The average size diameter curve of the MCE revealed bimodal distribution with two peaks (1541 and 2222 nm) separately. The hardness value of MCE cheese (212.83 ± 17.63 g) was lower than that of CE (343.67 ± 25.53 g) because of canola oil used in the microencapsulation process. The MCE-cheese showed lower values of acidity (1.67%) in comparison with CE-cheese (1.87%). The viable numbers of Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactococcus lactis were equal among the samples (4.6–4.9 log10 CFU/g respectively). The acid degree value of MCE (2.07 ± 0.21%) and CE (1.83 ± 0.25%) cheese were nearly equal at the end of storage time.

We herein demonstrated the preparation of nickel sulfide hierarchical architectures via an emulsion-assisted route in hydrothermal system. Scanning electron microscope images of the products at different reaction stages indicated that the construction of the nanostructured hierarchical nickel sulfide was accomplished through oriented attachment accompanied by an encapsulation procedure, and the as-obtained products exhibited uniform architectures assembled by various primary units (e.g. nanorods, nanosheets). In addition, the effect of different surfactants on the shape of nickel sulfide nanostructures was further studied. The results indicated that the hierarchical architectures can only be achieved with the assistance of anionic surfactant (e.g. sodium dodecyl sulfate). These as-prepared novel hierarchical nanostructures may be used in various areas, including industrial catalysis, and energy storage etc.

Nanoparticles of Cr2O3 were successfully obtained via hydrothermal reduction of CH3OH. The oxidant and chromium source was CrO3. The process needs no stirrer or surfactant and the CrO3 concentration was 0.83mol/L. The obtained products were loosely agglomerated Cr2O3 nanoparticles with the average size of 29 to 79 nm. Influences of reactant ratios and calcination temperatures on the specific surface area and average particle size were discussed. And the morphology of nanoparticles was investigated by use of field-emission scanning electron microscope.
