AbstractAISI 304L is an austenitic Chromium-Nickel stainless steel offering the optimum combination of corrosion resistance, strength, and ductility. These attributes make it a favorite for many mechanical switch components. The low carbon content reduces susceptibility to carbide precipitation during welding. In the present paper a thorough review on welding of AISI 304L austenitic Stainless Steel by various welding processes was made. From the review it is understood that AISI 304L austenitic Stainless Steel is the best material where there is a problem of intergranular corrosion. Also it is one of the best materials frequently used in manufacturing non heat treatable components.

Abstract AK Steel Type 304L is a chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel. It is an extra low-carbon variation of Type 304 with a 0.030% maximum carbon content that eliminates carbide precipitation due to welding. As a result, this alloy can be used in the “as-welded” condition, even in severe corrosive conditions. In many cases it eliminates the necessity of annealing weldments except for applications specifying stress relief. Type 304L has slightly lower mechanical properties than Type 304. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fatigue. It also includes information on high temperature performance, corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, and joining. Filing Code: SS-1324. Producer or Source: AK Steel Corporation.

Abstract Remanit 4306 is a low-carbon chromium nickel austenitic stainless steel that is superior in corrosion resistance to type 302 (see Alloy Digest SS-99, revised September 1998). Due to its low carbon content, Remanit 4306 is intergranular corrosion resistant under continuous operating conditions up to 350 C (652 F). This grade is particular suitable for high degrees of cold working and for sequential drawing. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on high temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, and joining. Filing Code: SS-679. Producer or source: Thyssen Stahl AG.
