Previous researches have carried out studying the corrosion behavior of steels, the most frequently used steels are medium carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel. This is due to their wide range of applications. So, corrosion behavior is necessary to be analyzed for every steel type because of its wide function. This study was aimed to analyze the corrosion rate, macrostructure, and the XRD results of the AISI 1045, AISI 4140, and SS 304 which represent every steel type. Then, the steels were exposed to the 0.5M H2SO4 solution with various corrosion times. The variation of the corrosion time was 48, 96, and 144 hours. The results of this study revealed that AISI 1045 showed the highest corrosion rate with the value of 183.7 mpy at 144 hours of the time variation. All specimens obtained an increase in the corrosion rate with the increase in the corrosion time. Furthermore, for the macrostructure results, AISI 1045 and AISI 4140 gave obvious rust on the surface of the specimens for all time variation. The corrosion spots appear in the time variation of 96 and 144 hours for SS 304 specimens. XRD analysis confirmed the presence of metal oxides as corrosion products.

This paper will discuss about how the influence of welding electrodes which before being used in the welding process is given a certain treatment first. The treatment given to the welding electrode before the welding process is by dipping the welding electrode into the oil and dipping the welding electrode into the coolant. The effect of the welding electrode treatment on the SMAW welding results seen from the tensile strength. The specimen used is stainless steel type 304 with four welding variations. First, welding using Gutwelt type E308 welding electrodes. Second, welding using Nikko Steel type E308 welding electrodes. Third, welding using Nikko Steel type E308 welding electrodes that are oil dipped. Fourth, welding uses Nikko Steel type E308 welding electrodes which are dyed coolant. After tensile testing of the welding results, the results are obtained: welding using Gutwelt type E308 welding electrodes has greater tensile strength compared to using Nikko Steel type E308 welding electrodes. While welding using Nikko Steel type E308 welding electrodes that have been carried out certain treatments, namely by dipped coolant, produce greater tensile strength compared to using the Gutwelt type E308 welding electrodes. However, in welding using Nikko Steel type E308 welding electrodes that are oil dipped, the tensile strength is still lower than using a Gutwelt type E308 welding electrodes.

The paper summarizes the results of studies of the structure, phase composition and operational properties of gears made of steel type 38Kh2MYuA, which are observed in the modified layer, after the nitriding process. Much attention is paid to the process of ion nitriding in a glow discharge. The study of the hardened layer showed that there are some differences depending on the temperature of the process. Frequently used methods for the protection of non-aerated surfaces are considered.

060A4 steel (Chinese standard) is a steel with good machinability, which is very popularly used in mechanical engineering. Therefore, the study of solutions for improvement of quality and productivity when machining this steel type has great technical and economic significance. In this study, the multi-objective optimization process has been performed when milling this steel type on a vertical milling machine. The cutting tool is a face milling cutter made of High Speed Steel (HSS) material. The effect of spindle speed, feed rate, and cutting depth on surface roughness has been found. The combination of the Taguchi method and PSI method has been applied to determine the optimal value of three input parameters to simultaneously ensure the two criteria of the minimum surface roughness and the maximum Material Removal Rate (MRR). The works which will be done by the authors of this article in the near future has also been presented in the last part of this study.

The choice of electrode type in welding will affect the strength of the welding result. The aim of this study was to determine the effect on using different type of electrode on the tensile strength of low carbon steel type 1.0038 by using experimental method. The welding was conducted using Groove V. In addition, the specimens used in this research were the low carbon steel plate type 1.0038 with a thickness of 8 mm and were given SMAW treatment using 2 different types of electrodes, namely E 6013 and E 7016 whose diameters were 2.6 and 3.2 mm. The standard specimen used was ASTM-E8 and being tested using a Universal Testing Machine. Based on the research that had been conducted, it was obtained that the steel type 1.0038 welded using E 7016 electrodes had a higher tensile strength than the one using E 6013.
