The reaction of PdAc2 and K2PtCl4 with the ligand 1-thia-4,7-diazacyclononan (C6H14N2S - L) yield crystals of [PdL2](PF6)2 (4) and [PtL2]Br2-H2O (5), respectively. The structures of 4 and 5 have been determined.Crystal data: 4, monoclinic, space group P21/c, a = 719.2(1), b = 1712.5(3), c = 936.8(2) pm. β = 99.15°, Z = 2; 1708 reflections, R = 0.029.5, monoclinic, space group P21/c, a = 1682(2). b = 786(1), c = 1573(1) pm. β = 108.1(1)°, Z - 4; 1706 reflections, R = 0.070. 4 contains octahedrally coordinated Pd(II); in addition to the square planar PdN4 group (mean Pd -N bond length 206 pm) the S-donor atoms are weakly coordinated in the axial positions (Pd-S: 303.4(1) pm). In 5, however, Pt(II) is in a square planar ligand environment. The S-donor atoms are bent away from the axial positions of the central atom.

AgAuCl4 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group I2/c with Zi = 4. The crystal structure is built up by Ag+ cations and square planar AuCl4⁻ anions with Au-Cl bond length of 228 pm. The Ag+ ions have an octahedral coordination of Cl atoms. AgAuCl4 is topologically related to RbAuCl4.

Crystals of a new clathrate [CuII(hmtd)CuI(CN)3]·CH2Cl2 were afforded from a Me2CO-EtOH-CH2Cl2 solution of a macrocyclic complex CuII(hmtd)CuI(CN)3·2 H2O (hmtd = 5,7,7,12,14,14-hexamethyl- 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradeca- 4,11-diene). It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n, a = 7.936(5), b = 18.717(4), c = 17.783(6) Å, β = 98.55(4)°, Z = 4, R = 0.0558 for 1 870 reflections. Unprecedentedly, only one of the three nitrogen-ends of a CuI(CN)3 moiety is coordinated to the square-pyramidal Cu(II) center. The guest CH2Cl2 molecules are captured in the channel between the potlid-shaped [CuII(hmtd)CuI(CN)3] molecules.

Abstract The molecular structure of the bridged [1]-titanocenophane 1,1'-dimethylsilylene titanocene dichloride, (CH3)2Si(C5H4)2TiCl2, has been investigated by an X-ray structure determination. Crystal data: monoclinic, space group C2/c, Z = 4, a = 1332.9(3), 6 = 988.7(3), c = 1068.9(3) pm, β = 113.43(2)°. The results are compared with the structural dimensions of similar compounds: 1,1'-methylene titanocene dichloride, CH2(C5H4)TiCl2, with the unbridged titanocene dichloride, (C5H5)2TiCl2 and the ethylene-bridged compound (CH2)2(C5H4)2TiCl2

Reaction of a DMF solution of Cu(S2CNC4H8) with [Ph4P]2[WSe4] affords [Ph4P]2[WSe4- (CuS2CNC4H8)3] (1) and [Ph4P][Cu(SeS2CNC4H )(S2CN2C4H8)] (2) in which a Se atom from the decomposition of the WSe42- anion has reacted with the pyrrolidyldithiocarbamate (C4H8dtc) ligand anion to form the new ligand anion SeS2CNC4H8⊖. Complex 2 crystallizes with four formula units in the monoclinic space group P21/c in a cell of dimensions a = 10.5824(2), b = 18.7575(3), c = 18.3268(4) Å and ß = 109.0980(10)°. 6055 independent reflections above background were measured with a diffractometer and the structure was refined anisotropically to R =0.073. The anion contains a three-coordinated copper(I) atom. The C4H8dtc⊖ ligand is bonded to the Cu+ cation in a terminal fashion, while SeS2CNC4H8⊖ chelates the Cu+ cation. The Se-S bond length is 2.231 (4) Å.

Abstract The Molecular Structures of [2,4,6-(CF3)3C6H2S]2 (1) [2,4,6-Me3C6H2Te]2 and [2-Me2N-4,6-(CF3)2C6H2Te]2 (3) have been determined by X-ray diffraction. The reactions of N-substituted dithiocarbamic acid esters and nickel acetate yield, by partial degradation of the esters, the polynuclear nickel thiolato complexes cyclo-[(μ-SMe)2Ni]6, 1 and [(μ-SMe)2(Ni(MeNHCS2))2, 2. Their crystal structures have been determined. The Ni coordination spheres are comprised of four sulfur atoms in a planar arrangement. 1 is a second, highly symmetrical modification of the already known cyclic hexamer Ni6(SMe)12. In 2 two Ni(PhNHCS2) moieties are bridged to dimers by thiolato groups. Two of these dimers are connected to a tetramer by weak axial Ni-S interactions. Crystal data for 1: monoclinic, space group P21/n, a = 986.1(2), b = 1308.1(3), c = 1228.6(2) pm, β = 96.07(3)°, Z = 2, R = 0.072, Rw = 0.062, 3797 reflections. 2: orthorhombic, space group Pnma, a = 1790.0(4), b = 1806.7(4), c = 934.4(2) pm. Abstract The new compound [(Crypt-2.2.2)H2]I8 has been prepared by the reaction of [(Crypt-2.2.2)H2](I3)2 with iodine in methanol. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pbcn with a = 11.476 (2), b = 13.589 (2), c = 22.888 (2) Å and Z = 4. The crystal structure has been refined to RF = 0.031 for 1618 reflections. It may be described as a layerlike packing of octaiodide anions I82-and diprotonated 2.2.2-Crypt as cations. The non planar octaiodide anion is built up from two triiodide groups and a bridging iodine molecule.Tris(1, 10-phenanthroline)nickel(II) octaiodide bis(chloroform) crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n with a = 11.683 (8), b = 21.717 (8), c = 20.752 (5) Å, β = 95.03 (5)° and Z = 4 formula units. The crystal structure has been refined to RF = 0.058 for 3894 reflections. The structure consists of two chloroform molecules, octahedrally coordinated complex cations [Ni(phen)3]2+ and nonplanar octaiodide anions I82- each composed of two asymmetric triiodide units I3- weakly associated with an elongated bridging iodine molecule I2.The already known structure of bis(N-methylurotropinium) octaiodide, (UrMe)2I8, has been verified and more accurate crystal data have been collected. The crystal structure has been refined to RF = 0.045 for 1908 reflections. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c with a = 11.302 (2), b = 9.850 (2), c = 14.188 (2) Å , β = 92.59 (1)° and Z = 2. The anion has the shape of a stretched Z.The structure of bis(N-ethylurotropinium) octaiodide (UrEt)2I8 has been determined and a new configuration (I3-, I5-) for octaiodide ions between Z (I3- · I2 ·I3-) and a “broken” configuration (I3-, I5-) has been observed. The compound crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1̄ with a = 9.741 (3), b = 11.815 (3), c = 15.426 (3) Å, α = 91.80 (2), β = 107.14 (2), γ = 90.04 (2)° and Z = 2. The crystal structure has been refined to RF = 0.037 for 3657 reflections.

Single crystals of Cu(pz)Br2 and Cu(pz)Cl2 were grown by using gel methods with tetramethoxysilane as the gel-forming reagent. Thermal decomposition is interpreted. Crystal data for the bromo complex: monoclinic, space group C2/m with a = 1239.2(3) pm, b = 685.9(2) pm, c = 390.7(3) pm, β = 96,23(5)°. Crystal data for the chloro-complex: monoclinic, space group C2/m with a = 1197.1(3) pm, b = 684.9(3) pm, c = 370.1(3) pm, β = 95.96(5)°. Crystal structure analyses reveal that CuHal2 molecules are bonded by pyrazine to form linear chains. These chains are cross-linked by bridging halogen atoms.

Intermediate products have been isolated from the reaction of (4,4,9,9-tetramethyl-5,8-diazadodecane-2,11-dione dihydrazone )nickel(II) perchlorate with butane-2,3-dione which finally yields the macrocyclic product (3,4,7,9,9,14,14,16-octamethyl-1,2,5,6,10,13-hexaazacyclohexa-deca-2,4,6,16-tetraene)nickel(II) perchlorate , [Ni( omht )] (ClO4)2. An initial violet product is assigned a structure with the macrocyclic ligand 3-acetyl-3,6,8,8,13,13,15-heptamethyl-1,2,4,5,9,12-hexaazacyclopentadeca-5,15-diene. In water this converts into an equilibrium mixture of the tautomeric cations blue cis-aqua(3,4,7,9,9,14,14,16-octamethyl-1,2,5,6,10,13-hexaazacyclohexadeca-1(16),4,6-trien-3-ol)nickel(II), cis-[Ni(L2)(H2O)]2+, and orange (3,6,8,- 8,13,13-hexamethyl-4,5,9,12-tetraazahexadeca-3,5-diene-2,15-dione 15-hydrazone)nickel(II), [Ni(L3)]2+. The rates at 25°C of the forward and reverse reactions of this tautomerism, and of the slower conversion of the equilibrium mixture to [Ni( omht )](ClO4)2, are reported. The structure of cis -[Ni(L2)(H2O)](ClO4)2.3H2O has been determined by X-ray diffractometry (monoclinic, space group P21/n, a 9.694(8), b 19.218(14), c 16.652(9) Ǻ, β 94.88(1)°, R 0.079 for 3254 reflections). This has NiII in octahedral coordination by secondary amine nitrogen atoms 10 and 13, hydrazone nitrogen atoms 1 and 6, and the carbinolamine oxygen substituent at position 3 of the pentadentate macrocyclic ligand L2, with a water molecule coordinated cis to the hydroxy group. Compounds of the tautomeric cations [Ni(L2)]2+ and [Ni(L3)]2+ with coordinated thiocyanate, azide, nitrite, oxalate and acetate are described.

The structures of [Pt(S2CN(C2H5)2)2] (1) and [Pt(S2CN(C2H4OH)2)2] (2) have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffractometry. Compound (1) crystallizes in the tetragonal space group P42/n, a 16.4692(10),c 6.2160(6) � (Z = 4); R was 0.029 for 1012 observed reflections. Compound (2) is monoclinic, space group Pc, a 6-0663(11), b 1.1784(15), c 12.5740(21) � ,β92.569(8)� (Z = 2); R was 0.019 for 1573 observed reflections. The presence of electron-withdrawing groups in the ligands of (2) appears to have little effect on the Pt-S distances but causes an increase in the C-N bond length, with the C-N bond lengths being significantly different at the 2 σ level.
