The new macrocyclic dicyanoargentate complex Cs(dibenzo-24-crown-8)[Ag(CN)2] has been prepared and studied by means of X-ray diffraction (monoclinic, space group P21/a, with a = 12.730(3), b = 15.443(3), c = 15.323(3) Å, V = 3005(1) Å3, Z = 4, R1 = 0.041; wR2 = 0.048 for 5488 unique reflections with I > 3σ(I)). The lattice consists of complex Cs(db- 24-crown-8)+ cations (as an example of the “wrap-around” structure) and [Ag(CN)2]- anions forming a one-dimensional polymeric structure. The caesium atoms are coordinated with 8 oxygen atoms of the macrocycle and two nitrogen atoms of the dicyanoargentate groups, bonding to the cation on both sides of the crown-ether. It is the first structure of a dibenzo-24-crown-8 complex with a large metal cation such as Cs+.

Two new complexes [Ag(sac)(aepip)] (1) and [Ag(sac)(hepip)] (2) have been obtained by the reaction of AgNO3 with Na(sac)・2H2O (sac = saccharinate) in the presence of N-(2-aminoethyl)piperidine (aepip) and N-(2-hydroxyethyl)piperidine (hepip), and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, thermal analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Complexes 1 and 2 crystallize in the monoclinic space group C2 and triclinic space group P1, respectively. In both complexes, silver( I) is tricoordinated. The sac ligand is N-coordinated, while aepip and hepip behave as N-N and N-O bidentate chelating ligands, respectively. The pip rings of both aepip amd hepip ligands adopt typical ‘chair’ conformation. The individual molecules are linked into one-dimensional chains by two N-H···O hydrogen bonds in 1, and one O-H···O hydrogen bond in 2. TG-DTG curves illustrated that the endothermic elimination of aepip and hepip ligands takes place in the early stages of thermal decomposition, while that of the sac moiety occurs exothermically at higher temperatures to give metallic silver

The title compounds were obtained from NiS + PPh4Cl + HCl in dichloromethane, from NiCl2 and PPh4Cl and from NiCl2 + Na2S + 15-crown-5 in acetonitrile or CH2Cl2, respectively. Their crystal structures were determined by X-ray diffraction. (PPh4)2[NiCl4]: monoclinic, space group C 2/c, Z = 4, a = 1094.9(3), b = 1946.1(4), c = 2033.5(5) pm, β = 91.48(3)°; R = 0.07 for 2895 unique observed reflexions. [Na-15-crown-5]2[NiCl4]: triclinic, space group P1̄, Z = 2, a = 987.6(1), b = 998.0(1), c = 1779.9(2) pm, α = 104.17(1), β = 95.43(1), γ = 109.95(1)°; R = 0.090 for 4155 unique observed reflexions. In both cases, the [NiCl4]2- ions have distorted tetrahedral structures. With PPh4+ as the cation the distortion corresponds to a twisted tetrahedron which fulfils the point symmetry D2, the deviation from a flattened D2d-tetrahedron being small. In (PPh4)2[NiCl4] cations and anions alternate in layers parallel to (001). In [Na-15-crown-5]2[NiCl4] two of the Cl atoms of the anion are coordinated to sodium ions; one of the crown ether molecules shows positional disorder.

In this article, we describe the preparation of anionic heteronuclear one-dimensional coordination polymers made by dirhodium paddlewheels and tetracyanido-metallatate building blocks. A series of complexes of (PPh4)2n[{Rh2(µ-O2CCH3)4}{M(CN)4}]n (M = Ni (1), Pd (2), Pt (3)) formulae were obtained by reaction of [Rh2(μ-O2CCH3)4] with (PPh4)2[M(CN)4] in a 1:1 or 2:1 ratio. Crystals of 1−3 suitable for single crystal X-ray diffraction were grown by slow diffusion of a dichloromethane solution of the dirhodium complex into a chloroform solution of the corresponding tetracyanido–metallatate salt. Compounds 1 and 2 are isostructural and crystallize in the triclinic P-1 space group, while compound 3 crystallizes in the monoclinic P21/n space group. A detailed description of the structures is presented, including the analysis of the packing of anionic chains and PPh4+ cations.

Two infinite complexes {[Cu2(O2CCH3)4](3-tpt)(CH3OH)2}∞ (1) and {[Cu2(O2CPh)4](3-tpt)(C6H6)1.5}∞ (2) were obtained by reactions of 2,4,6-tris(3′-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine (3-tpt) with Cu2(O2CCH3)4 and Cu2(O2CPh)4, respectively, which have been structurally established by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Complex (1) consists of one-dimensional zig-zag chains in its solid state, which can encapsulate methanol molecules; complex (2) consists of one-dimensional helical chains in its solid state, providing large channels which can selectively enclathrate benzene molecules. (1) crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c with a 8.2892(4), b 22.8479(8), c 16.9258(10) Å, β 99.1480(10)°, V 3164.8(3) Å3, and Z 4; (2) crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1 with a 10.7641(8), b 12.0908(8), c 18.9039(12) Å, α 82.514(3)°, β 85.268(2)°, γ 79.746(4)°, V 2395.9(3) Å3, and Z 2. The inclusion selectivity toward aromatic molecules was discussed.

AbstractFour new mixed-valent chain alkali metal (A) sulfido ferrates of the general structure family ${A}_{1+x}\left[{\text{Fe}}_{x}^{\text{II}}{\text{Fe}}_{1-x}^{\text{III}}{\text{S}}_{2}\right]$ were synthesized in the form of tiny green-metallic needles from nearly stoichiometric melts reacting elemental potassium with natural pyrite (A = K) or previously prepared Rb2S/Cs2S2 with elemental iron and sulfur (A = Rb/Cs). The crystal structures of the compounds were determined by means of single crystal X-ray diffraction: In the (3+1)D modulated structure of K7.15[FeS2]4 (space group Ccce(00σ3)0s0, a = 1363.87(5), b = 2487.23(13), c = 583.47(3) pm, q = 0,0,0.444, R1 = 0.055/0.148, x = 0.787), a position modulation of the two crystallographically different undulated ${}_{\infty }{}^{1}\left[{\text{FeS}}_{4/2}\right]$ tetrahedra chains and the surrounding K cations is associated with an occupation modulation of one of the three potassium sites. In the case of the new monoclinic rubidium ferrate Rb4[FeS2]3 (x = $\frac{1}{3}$; space group P21/c, a = 1640.49(12), b = 1191.94(9), c = 743.33(6) pm, β = 94.759(4)°, Z = 4, R1 = 0.1184) the undulation of the tetrahedra chain is commensurate, the repetition unit consists of six tetrahedra. In the second new Rb ferrate, Rb7[FeS2]5 (x = 0.4; monoclinic, space group C2/c, K7[FeS2]5-type; a = 2833.9(2), b = 1197.36(9), c = 744.63(6) pm, β = 103.233(4)°, Z = 4, R1 = 0.1474) and its isotypic mixed Rb/Cs-analog Rb3.6Cs3.4[FeS2]5 (a = 2843.57(5), b = 1226.47(2), c = 759.890(10) pm, β = 103.7170(9)°, R1 = 0.0376) the chain buckling leads to a further increased repetition unit of 10 tetrahedra. For all mixed-valent ferrates, the Fe–S bond lengths continuously increase with the amount (x) of Fe(II). The buckling of the chains is controlled through the local coordination of the S atoms by the variable number of A cations of different sizes.

The structures of two crystalline modifications of mer -(Pme2Ph)3H-cis-Cl2IrIII, (1), have been determined from single-crystal X-ray diffraction data. Modification (A) is monoclinic, space group P21/c with a 12.635(1), b 30.605(3), c 14.992(2)Ǻ, β 110.01(2)° and Z = 8. Modification (B) is orthorhombic, space group Pbca with a 27.646(3), b 11.366(1), c 17.252(2)Ǻ and Z = 8. The structures were solved by conventional heavy atom techniques and refined by full-matrix least- squares analyses to conventional R values of 0.037 [(A), 8845 independent reflections] and 0.028 [(B), 5291 independent reflections]. Important bond lengths [Ǻ] are Ir -P(trans to Cl ) 2.249(1) av. (A) and 2.234(1) (B), Ir -P(trans to PMe2Ph) 2.339(2) av. (A) and 2.344(1), 2.352(1) (B), Ir-Cl (trans to H) 2.492(2), 2.518(2) (A) and 2.503(1) (B) and Ir-Cl (trans to PMe2Ph)2.452(2) av. (A) and 2.449(1)(B). Differences in chemically equivalent metal- ligand bond lengths emphasize the importance of non-bonded contacts in determining those lengths.

Two new saccharinato-silver(I) (sac) complexes, [Ag(sac)(ampy)] (1), and [Ag2(sac)2(μ-aepy)2] (2), [ampy = 2-(aminomethyl)pyridine, aepy = 2-(2-aminoethyl)pyridine], have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, thermal analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Complexes 1 and 2 crystallize in the monoclinic space group P21/c and triclinic space group P1̄, respectively. The silver(I) ions in both complexes 1 and 2 exhibit a distorted T-shaped AgN3 coordination geometry. 1 consists of individual molecules connected into chains by N-H···O hydrogen bonds. There are two crystallographically distinct dimers in the unit cell of 2 and in each dimer, the aepy ligands act as a bridge between two silver(I) centers, resulting in short argentophilic contacts [Ag1···Ag1 = 3.0199(4) Å and Ag2···Ag2 = 2.9894(4) Å ]. Symmetry equivalent dimers of 2 are connected by N-H···O hydrogen bonds into chains, which are further linked by aromatic π(py)···π(py) stacking interactions into sheets.

Thiohydantoins have been used in the manufacture of medicines and in industrial processes. Depending on the nature and type of substitution on the heterocyclic ring, these compounds may display pharmaceutical and biological activity with a variety of applications as antiepileptic, antitumoral, antiinflammatory, and principally for the treatment of prostate cancer. In this study, a new thiohydantoin was synthetized from the valine amino acid and structurally characterized. The title compound, C6H10N2O2S, with systematic name rac-5-isopropyl-2-tioxoimidazolidin-4-one, has been synthetized by a solvent-free synthesis. The heterocyclic compound was characterized by spectroscopic infrared (FTIR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) techniques, powder and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD). This material crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c. In the supramolecular structure, the molecules are joined by N- --H···O and N---H···S hydrogen bonds, forming centrosymmetric R2 2(8) dimers and C2 2(9) chains that run along the [001] direction in an infinite one-dimensional network.
