Floyd's triangle is often presented to computer science students as an exercise or example to illustrate the concepts of text formatting and loop constructs. The paper proposes to look at an object from a different angle and to examine limit theorems for the numbers of generalized Floyd's triangles. Tasks of this type can be used as exercises in study programs of mathematics and informatics (couses of probability theory and combinatorics). It would help to master the appropriate proof techniques and mathematical apparatus. The article proposes a series of possible problems and their proof schemes.

Using elements of games in the non-gaming systems is known as gamification. It is used recently in many areas to improve some processes. For example, it alleviates the teaching and learning. Students surmount some learning objectives easier if they play games where they are challenged with rivalry factors and collaborate more among each other. This paper presents a new approach of gamifying the practical project in the hardware-based course Microprocessors and Microcontrollers for computer science students. This change significantly improved the course - not only that it improved the average grade of the passed students, but it provoked the students to enroll in other hardware courses of the upper semesters. Even more so, some diploma theses involving microcontrollers were developed for the first time.

There are several International Olympiads for secondary school students (for example, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and informatics). These Olympiads are not just a science competition, but a means to care for talent in the particular science. The goal of this paper is to identify the necessary topics important for good results at these international contests, and to compare the contest systems for the countries in South Eastern Europe, in the field of Informatics (Computer Science), as a region that is one of the prominent world regions in the context of high results in the international competitions. Here, we provide comparison through detailed analysis of several countries, and further we present a new approach that may be used to compare the achievements of the countries based on the results that students achieved at these competitions. Finally, we present an application of this approach on the results of some of the discussed countries compared to Macedonia. We strongly believe that the paper will provide a valuable content and approach for the entities involved in the organization of the contests, to measure their results compared to other countries, to use the information for improvement, and to use their achievements to raise awareness among the government institutions and companies in order to get support from them.

Among the most interesting problems in competitive programming involve maximum flows. However, efficient algorithms for solving these problems are often difficult for students to understand at an intuitive level. One reason for this difficulty may be a lack of suitable metaphors relating these algorithms to concepts that the students already understand. This paper introduces a novel maximum flow algorithm, Tidal Flow, that is designed to be intuitive to undergraduate andpre-university computer science students.
