The aim of this study is to assess the impact of strategic management practices on the performance of some commercial banks in Makurdi – Nigeria. The study utilized primary data obtained through structured questionnaire administered to 160 respondents sampled from seven commercial banks in the study area. The collected data from the study were analyzed using descriptive statistics, percentages, correlation and regression analysis. The correlation results showed that strategic management practices are highly positively and significantly related to organizational performance. The regression result which explains about 99.9% variability in the model revealed that strategic management had positive and significant impact on the performance and profitability of commercial banks. The study recommended among other things that the management of the commercial banks should enhance the strategic management techniques in order to improve performance.

This case focuses on the strategic management practices of Adyar Ananda Bhavan (prevalently known as A2B), a quickly developing contemporary sweet chain of Chennai in South India that is currently proclaiming a target of 900 crores turnover from 2021 onwards with 8,000 employees. The case has a close theoretical association with the famous strategic management models, for instance Michael E. Porter's model, Ansoff Matrix, Blue Ocean Strategy, Balanced Scorecard, and Resource-Based View and explains how an organization can strategically grow its business through digital value-based innovation. Contending sources of data, for example print and electronic media, have been utilized to accumulate and report raw facts and figures. The authors analyzed based on insights gained from various academicians from different universities across India, some mid-level managers from industry, and some unofficial conversations with A2B staff in Bangalore. This case is planned to be utilized in the strategic management subject for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

This study was conducted with the purpose of investigating the influence, on corporate competitiveness, of strategic management practices based on socio-environmental responsibility. We also sought to understand the interrelationships between the management practices relating to strategy, socio-environmental innovation and sustainable supply chain. We analyzed the aspects of competitive performance with respect to: profitability, cost, revenue, market share and image. The methodology applied was quantitative analysis, in a e-Survey, where, in o129 manufacturing industries. The results indicated a large number of significant correlations between many of the management practices studied and competitive performance, especially in terms of image. As for the practices, the ones that stood out were the initiatives to implement actions that integrate sustainable practices (e.g. inclusion of sustainability criteria in the development of new products and processes); and external relations (incorporation of socio-environmental criteria in the selection of suppliers and capital investment). As a limitation, this research was developed to cover the strategic KPI´s of a corporate competitive performance, and the future research should contemplate the tactical and operational perspectives. Just a few quantitative research’s are done with this propose, and in Brazil, it is quite insignificant, what means that this research is original. The results can be applied to stimulate the enterprises to improve their socio environmental sustainability management practices. Also, this research reinforces some of the SGDs recommended by UN for 2030 agenda which should improve company’s attractiveness for financial market and for people and planet.

Introduction: The contemporary business environment in which organizations operate is increasingly becoming uncertain and unpredictable, and it has been established that little is known of the implementation of strategic planning practices among not-for-profit organizations in developing countries, despite increased inability to meet estimated project timelines, quality and budget allocation. Purpose: This study aimed to examine how strategic management practices influence health NGOs' performance in Nairobi City, Kenya. Methodology: The study was grounded on theories that include: Ansoff's strategic success theory and stakeholder theory. The study was grounded on positivism research philosophy with a descriptive research design guiding the research. The study targeted the senior managers of the 98 health NGOs operating in Nairobi County. Stratified random sampling was used in the selection of the desired respondents.  The sample participants for the research were 131 employees from health NGOs. The study relied on frequencies, means and standard deviation in presenting descriptive results. The inferential statistics used were correlation analysis, regression analysis and analysis of variance. Findings: The study results showed a positive and significant correlation between strategic planning, strategy evaluation and monitoring, and health non-governmental organizations' performance. The study concluded that strategy formulation as well as strategy evaluation and monitoring have a positive relationship with the performance of health NGOs. Recommendations: The study recommends that NGOs improve their strategic management practices by strengthening their collaborations with stakeholders, reviewing threats and opportunities and involving employees in strategic planning and implementation. The study recommends for further research work be conducted to review the influence of internal organization environment on NGOs' performance in Kenya.
