Gear profile modification is an important method for reducing system vibration and noise of a gear transmission. In this paper, three kinds of gear profile modification curves are studied, and relevant experiments are conducted. Some useful conclusions based on the theoretical analysis and experimental results have been obtained. Line, parabola and sinusoid modification curves are very useful in improving the dynamic performance of a gear transmission system by reducing system vibration and noise. In order to design the optimal tooth profile modification curve, the curve type must be decided firstly according to the specific working condition, and the curve parameters can be determined by means of optimum programming.

The dynamic performance of asymmetric involute gear transmission system is analyzed by the MSC.ADAMS software during the paper. By comparative analyzed with the traditional dynamic characteristics of symmetrical involute straight gear transmission, it can be summarized that the asymmetric involute gear transmission system has better vibration characteristics in the course of transmission.

Gear transmission is a key component in locomotive where it delivers the traction or braking forces between the motor and the wheelset. Its working performance has a direct effect on the operating reliability and safety. Therefore, investigation on the dynamic characteristics of the gear transmission in locomotives is very meaningful. In this study, a gear transmission-locomotive-track spatial coupled dynamic model is established based on the classical locomotive-track coupled dynamics and the gear dynamics theory. Based on this model, the dynamic responses of the gear transmission can be analysed under excitations from different track geometrical irregularity, and the dynamic performance of the gear transmission can be obtained. This paper also studies the effect law of the track irregularity on the vibration of the gear transmission by using statistical indicators RMS (Root Mean Square) and PtP (Peak-to-Peak). The results indicate that the track geometrical irregularity has an obvious impact to the dynamic performance of gear transmission. The dynamic response of the gear transmission will increase violently when the locomotive runs on the track in a worse condition. The results are expected to be capable of providing some references for fatigue life prediction and reliability analysis of the gear transmissions in locomotive.

The dynamic performance of the CNC turret affect the cutting capability and cutting efficiency of the NC machine tool directly, embody the core level of the design and manufacture of the NC machine tool. However, the dynamic performance of the CNC turret mostly decided by the dynamic performance of the power transmission system of the power turret. This passage use Pro/E to set the accurate model of the gears and the CAD model of the gear transmission system and based on this to constitute the ADAMS model of virtual prototype. On the many-body contact dynamics theory basis, dynamic describes the process of the mesh of the gears, work out the dynamic meshing force under the given input rotating speed and loading, and the vibration response of the gear system. The simulation result disclosure the meshing shock excitation and periodical fluctuation phenomena arose by stiffness excitation of the gear transmission. Analyses and pick-up the radial vibration response of the output gear of the gear transmission system as the feasibility analysis data.
