The article addresses essential aspects of role play as a technique aimed at facilitating military students' professionally significant competences. The study undertaken here advocates the task-based language teaching as an integral part of the military students’ vocational training at the law faculty. Hence the goal of our study is to provide theoretical justification and methodological development of the concept of role play in foreign language teaching as a means of promoting second language learning and facilitating vocational training. We have analysed the impact of role play on the learner acquisition processes and forming of their professionally significant competences. We have identified stages and algorithms of role play, examined its components and characteristics in foreign language teaching. The conceptual framework of the study follows the model of professional competence approach. Research and experience data obtained in our experimental work make it possible to identify the significance of role play in second language learning designed for military students’ professional development in educational programs at law faculties.

<p>The paper gives an overview of learner corpora and their application to second language learning and teaching. It is proposed that there are four core components in learner corpus research, namely, corpus linguistics expertise, a good background in linguistic theory, knowledge of SLA theory, and a good understanding of foreign language teaching issues (Granger, 2009). Based on the above components, the present paper first introduces learner corpora, then reviews literature concerning the application of corpus linguistics to SLA by means of contrastive interlanguage analysis, and at last discusses the relationship between learner corpora and foreign language teaching.</p>

The recent history of the teaching of grammar, both for first- and second-language learning, has produced highly polarised and acrimonious debate. The repercussions have extended beyond the boundaries of linguistics into the social and political domain. The present generation of foreign-language undergraduates has been profoundly (if unknowingly) affected by this debate, as reflected in their approach to the learning of grammar, and any consideration of the methodology of language teaching, including that of CALL, must take account of it.

In language learning, either first language, second language or foreign language, teaching language components is part of a language program. In general, the language component consists of three, namely grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. Vocabulary is a collection of words that are owned by a language and give meaning when we use the language. There are many vocabulary that teachers don't teach this vocabulary, especially word association, proverb and riddle, and definition. in this study, we try to explain about those vocabulary with the examples.

Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) has been adopted in many countries and has influenced the foreign and second language learning and teaching. This article aims to explore the emerging factors of CLT and how CLT is practiced in Indonesian EFL classroom. This study finds that there are three main phases of the development of CLT. Started from the works of Hymes (1967, 1972), Canale and Swain (1980) and Bachman (1990). Moreover, recent theories in second language acquisition and globalization are two main factors which lead to the widespread of CLT. Finally, in the EFL context the application of CLT has faced many challenges. Socio-cultures, grammar and reading-based exam, and teachers’ low English proficiency make the application of CLT in Indonesian EFL classroom has not reached its objectives yet.
