AbstractThe objective of this study was to verify the factor validity and structure of the “Irritation Scale” in a sample of 578 Spanish university students. At the same time, the study aimed to verify the criterion-related validity of the scale, analyzing the results obtained through correlation with other variables, such as general self-efficacy, self-regulation, depression, and certain personality dimensions. The results obtained through the Exploratory Structural Equation Modeling approach (ESEM) using Mplus confirmed the presence of two factors in the Irritation Scale, as observed in other international studies within a workplace setting. The significant correlations obtained between the Irritation Scale and the variables considered in the study confirmed the construct validity and verified that irritation is significantly and positively associated with depression and academic burnout, and is negatively associated with general self-efficacy and self-regulation.

The biggest challenge in nurturing an academic community is encouraging knowledge sharing among its members. Literature on communities, however, has paid less attention on the role of outcome expectations in encouraging the knowledge sharing behaviors. This study examines the effects of Personal Outcome Expectations (POE) and Community-related Outcome Expectations (COE) on the knowledge sharing behaviors of students and its consequent impact on their academic performance. In order to study these relationships a survey of university students was conducted. Based on structural equation modeling approach, it was found that COE have significant impact on knowledge sharing among the students.

In this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationship between multidimensional perfectionism and cognitive flexibility in university students. The sample consisted of 375 students (179 [47.7%] males) aged from 18 to 41 years. Data were obtained using the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (MPS) and Cognitive Flexibility Inventory (CFI). Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to analyze the data. The results obtained from the research has shown that multidimensional perfectionism affects cognitive flexibility and as multidimensional perfectionism increases, the level of cognitive flexibility decreases.

The psychological consequences of Facebook use remain controversy since most previous studies used vague and non-psychological-theory-driven indicators. To better understand the potential consequences of Facebook use, this study developed the Facebook Psychological Involvement Scale (FPIS).With 682 Taiwanese university students as subjects, this study analysed the reliability and validity of the scale using structural-equation-modeling (SEM). Results showed that FPIS had strong reliability and validity. Besides, the correlations between FPIS and internet addiction/positive-psychological states (PPS) were significantly stronger than those of usage time and number of Facebook friends, indicating that FPIS is a more effective predictor of the psychological consequences of Facebook usage.

I examined the relationships among gratitude, positive emotion, and satisfaction with life, and whether positive emotion mediated associations between gratitude and satisfaction with life. Participants were 375 university students in Taiwan, who completed 3 instruments assessing the above constructs. Based on structural equation modeling, results showed that gratitude was positively associated with both positive emotion and satisfaction with life. Further, the effect of gratitude on satisfaction with life was found to be partially mediated by positive emotion. The findings thus suggest that gratitude not only has a direct impact on satisfaction with life but also indirectly affects satisfaction with life via the experience of positive emotion.
