The intensity and severe impact of carbon emissions on the environment has been witnessed globally. This study aims to unravel how environmental factors, personal factors, and entrepreneur outcome expectations affect entrepreneur low-carbon emission behavior (LCB) through the lens of social cognitive theory (SCT). To achieve the aims of this study, we gathered data from 1015 entrepreneurs and small, medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Jiangsu province of China to analyze the predictors of entrepreneur low-carbon behavior. The proposed relationships were tested using the partial least square structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) technique. The findings from the study indicate that environmental factors (i.e., climate change (CC), public media (PM), and corporate social responsibility (CSR) have a significant and positive relationship with entrepreneur LCB. Moreover, entrepreneur green production self-efficacy (GPS) is positively associated with entrepreneur LCB. The findings further revealed that entrepreneur personal concepts such as entrepreneur self-monitoring (SM), entrepreneur self-esteem (SE), and entrepreneur self-Preference (SP) significantly and completely affect entrepreneur GPS. Likewise, entrepreneur moral reflectiveness (EMR) substantially moderates the relationship between entrepreneur green production outcome expectation and LCB. This study concludes with recommendations for researchers interested in enhancing knowledge in this field. In summation, this study shows that a behavioral science viewpoint is critical for improving knowledge of low-carbon environment, CC drivers, mitigation strategies, and sustainable transition to our complex environment.

Background: Upper limb functional exercise (ULFE) has a positive effect on promoting the rehabilitation of upper limb function. However, little is known, about what drives postoperative patients to engage in and even maintain the advised exercises. This study integrated the health action process approach (HAPA) and the theory of planned behavior theory (TPB) to investigate the psychosocial determinants on the initiation and maintenance of ULFE in breast cancer patients. In addition, this study also tests key hypotheses relating to reasoned and implicit pathways to ULFE and its maintenance among postoperative patients with breast cancer.Methods: Purposive sampling was used to recruit patients from two breast cancer wards in a provincial hospital in Jiangsu, China. Patients (N = 430) completed self-reported questionnaire about constructs from integrated theories concerning ULFE at an initial time point (T1): task self-efficacy, positive outcome expectations, negative outcome expectations, risk perception, attitude behavior, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, behavioral intention, and ULFE-in hospital (ULFE-IH). Three months later (T2), patients self-reported: maintenance self-efficacy, action planning, coping planning, recovery self-efficacy, and ULFE-maintenance (ULFE-M).Results: The model has a good fit (GoF = 0.48). For behavioral intention of ULFE, subjective norm (β = 0.35) and perceived behavioral control (β = 0.61) were positively directly related to behavioral intention. Regarding the initiation of ULFE, perceived behavioral control (β = 0.47) and behavioral intention (β = 0.42) had a direct positive relation to ULFE-IH. In the maintenance of ULFE, action planning (β = 0.30), coping planning (β = 0.21), maintenance self-efficacy (β = 0.32), and recovery self-efficacy (β = 0.09) all had significant positive relation on ULFE-M. In addition, maintenance self-efficacy had a significant positive association on action planning (β = 0.80), coping planning (β = 0.74), and recovery self-efficacy (β = 0.67). Coping planning was significantly predicted by behavioral intention (β = 0.07). Additionally, behavioral intention is a mediator of subjective norm (β = 0.14) and perceived behavioral control (β = 0.25) to ULFE-IH. Action planning, coping planning, and recovery self-efficacy are mediators of maintaining self-efficacy to ULFE-M (β = 0.46).Conclusions: This study presents the first attempt to integrate the health behavior model in ULFE in postoperative patients with breast cancer. The study has shown that the HAPA-TPB integrated model has good applicability and effectiveness to explain and predict ULFE initiation and maintenance. Future work can be considered to develop appropriate intervention strategies based on this integrated behavioral theory.

ABSTRACTThis study aims to determine and analyze the mediating effect of entrepreneurial outcome expectations and entrepreneurial attitude on the influence of entrepreneurial self-efficacy on entrepreneurial intention. This study uses a quantitative approach with explanatory survey methods. The data collection tool in this study uses a questionnaire. In contrast, in determining the number of samples, this study applied convenience sampling so as obtain 75 young people in district Sukaresik, Tasikmalaya. The analysis technique carried out in this study was regression-based Serial Multiple Mediators using Macro Process software developed by Andrew F. Hayes. The result showed that entrepreneurial self-efficacy to entrepreneurial intention has a direct influence. In addition, entrepreneurial outcome expectations and entrepreneurial attitudes also serially mediate the effect of entrepreneurial self-efficacy on entrepreneurial intentions. The originality of this research is the adaptation of Social Cognitive Career Theory into entrepreneurial intention research which is still relatively rare. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei eksplanotori. Adapun alat pengumpulan data penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner, sedangkan dalam proses penentuan sampel penelitian ini menerapkan teknik convenience sampling sehingga didapatkan 75 orang pemuda di Kecamatan Sukaresik Kabupaten Tasikmalaya. Teknik analisis data yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini Analisis Mediasi Serial Berbasis Pendekatan Regresi dengan menggunakan Software Macro PROCESS yang dikembangkan oleh Andrew F. Hayes. Hasil temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa efikasi diri kewirausahaan berpengaruh secara langsung terhadap intensi wirausaha, selain itu harapan hasil kewirausahaan dan sikap kewirausahaan juga secara serial memediasi pengaruh efikasi diri kewirausahaan terhadap intensi wirausaha. Orisinalitas dari penelitian ini adalah adaptasi Social Cognitive Career Theory ke dalam riset intensi wirausaha yang masih relatif jarang dilakukan. Penelitian ini memiliki kontribusi teoretis dalam riset-riset intensi kewirausahaan yang selama ini masih didominasi oleh theory planned behavior yang dikembangkan oleh Icek Ajzen.

Purpose Entrepreneurial motivations are considered key determinants of the direction, intensity and duration of entrepreneurial processes and outcomes. To measure attitudes and outcome expectations related to an entrepreneurial career, researchers often use a set of predetermined behavioral beliefs or motivators. However, motivators can be numerous, context-specific and there is a lack of evidence regarding their stability over time. This study addresses this gap, while also providing a rich description of how Portuguese college students perceive entrepreneurship and how these perceptions relate to levels of entrepreneurial intentions (EI).Design/methodology/approach Using qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze data over a 5-year period, this study seeks to confirm existing evidence on entrepreneurship motivators' diversity and heterogeneity and to explore differences in motivators' temporal stability. Using an initial sample of 851 Portuguese college students and 3 different survey waves, this study first aggregates the most frequently cited motivators for EI to compile a series of meaningful motivational factors. Subsequently, it extensively analyzes the robustness of these factors by examining their validity against EI and stability over time.Findings Based on their superior association with EI and greater temporal stability, the findings suggest that entrepreneurship-intrinsic motivational factors are more relevant for college students' EI models. Prominently, being motivated to create one's own new business due to a particular occupational interest is the most consistently stable individual motivation.Practical implications The results may interest those studying entrepreneurial motivations and EI longitudinally and who invest in promoting entrepreneurial behavior of college students.Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first study to analyze entrepreneurship motivators/reasons' temporal stability, which is relevant for assessing their value for longitudinal entrepreneurship research and education. It is also the most complete assessment of Portuguese college students' perceptions of entrepreneurship.

BACKGROUND: Fatigue is one of the most common and disabling symptoms in people with multiple sclerosis (MS). Fatigue self-management behaviors may be effective in reducing the impact of fatigue in people with MS. However, few studies have examined the factors that influence engagement in fatigue self-management behaviors. OBJECTIVE: Identify factors that directly and indirectly influence fatigue self-management behaviors. METHODS: Participants with MS (n = 300) completed online questionnaires at baseline and 6-weeks. Using the Self- and Family Management Framework, we examined the influence of health status, resources and environment, healthcare utilization, and self-management processes on fatigue self-management behaviors at 6-weeks. Multiple regression and path analyses were conducted. RESULTS: The final regression model variables accounted for 41.58% of the variance in fatigue self-management behavior, which included outcome expectation (β= 0.287), disability (β= 0.265), environmental barriers (β= 0.188), self-efficacy (β= 0.153), symptom severity (β= 0.113), living in a rural community (β= –0.108), and living alone (β= 0.103). Path analysis indicated that outcome expectations may mediate the relationship between disability levels and fatigue self-management behavior. CONCLUSIONS: Health status (i.e., disability and symptom severity), environmental factors (e.g., living situation), and self-management processes (i.e., self-efficacy and outcome expectations) may play an important role in influencing engagement in fatigue self-management behaviors.

Background: Social cognitive career theory (SCCT) is one of the leading theories within the literature of career development, but there is marginal evidence of its applicability within the diverse nations and cultures of the Middle East and Arab nations.Objectives: The research involved a mixed methods exploratory design with an aim to determine SCCT’s utility in the context of Dubai and with a specific focus on the careers of Emirati women.Method: Study 1 used interviews to explore contextual factors affecting women’s careers. Study 2 used a survey to measure core SCCT constructs, namely self-efficacy and outcome expectations, and their relations with work engagement.Results: The qualitative data from the interviews and quantitative data from the survey found salience in factors that were consistent with the tenets of SCCT.Conclusion: The findings provide evidence of SCCT’s potential utility in this cultural context; however, future research should extend into a broader and larger sample of workers in Dubai and the UAE.

Purpose Technology for fitness provides users with numerous features that aid the achievement of intended fitness/health goals such as checking consumption habits and adherence to exercise. Based upon the concepts of self-efficacy and prospect theories, this study aims to inspect the influence of messages frame on behavioral usage of virtual reality (VR) technology intervened fitness exercise. Design/methodology/approach By usage of a laboratory-based experiment commissioning certain fitness exercises, this study is conducted on 150 respondents. An assessment is conducted on the efficiency of gain appeal mechanism (exercise performance feedback) toward the usage of VR intervened fitness exercise and measured surge in exercise self-efficacy (ESE), playfulness (PL) and outcome expectations. Findings The results show that gain-appealed/framed messages prove advantageous over loss-appealed/framed in performing VR intervened exercises. A bootstrapped (method) mediation analysis confirms higher positive effects of gain-framed messages upon intentions to use VR intervened fitness exercise. VR intervened fitness exercise was strongly and positively mediated by ESE, PL and outcome expectations. Practical implications This study is of help to researchers and marketers trying to understand the role played by gain- and loss-framed messages on VR technology enabled fitness exercises. Originality/value This study helps VR and fitness technology developers and marketers understand the effectiveness of persuasive performance messages toward VR fitness exercise technology adoption amalgamating message intervention with better technology usage.
