This article discusses the possibility of using the entomopathogenic fungus Lecanicillium muscarium R. Zare & W. Gams (Ascomycota: Hypocreales) against the fir adelgid Adelges pectinatae pectinatae (Cholodkovsky, 1888) and Siberian cedar adelgid Pineus cembrae (Cholodkovsky, 1888) on the Siberian fir Abies sibirica Ledeb., and pines Pinus sibirica Du Tour and Pinus banksiana Lamb. The blastospores of the entomopathogenic fungus L. muscarium strain G-033 VIZR, in the concentration of 5x107 spores/ml, showed a high efficiency on both of the species of adelgid. On the 17th day, the mortality of P. cembrae was 73% on P. sibirica and 61% on P. banksiana, and the mortality of the species A. pectinatae pectinatae on A. sibirica was 74%. The effect of the spore application had a prolonged effect over the next month on all treated trees. Keywords: entomopathogenic fungi, Lecanicillium muscarium, adelgid, conifers

Adelgids are dangerous sucking pests of the conifers. Adelges pectinatae pectinatae and Pineus cembrae (Cholodkovsky, 1888) are noted throughout the Botanical Garden of Peter the Great on the conifers Abies sibirica, Pinus sibirica, and Pinus Banksiana. The application of entomopathogenic fungi that can penetrate into the galls of adelgids allows decreasing the usage of the chemical pesticides. Strain G-033 VIZR, which is effective against sucking insects and mites, was examined. Conifers infected by the adelgids were sprayed with the blastospore suspension (titer – 5x107 spores/ml). The number of Adelges galls was counted before treatment and weekly for a month. The effectiveness of spores on the 7th and 10th day was 20-44 %; the effectiveness of the chemical insecticide Actara was 52-99 %. By the end of the observations, the effectiveness of the biolpesticide reached 92-98% at all species of trees and was at the level of the chemical reference. The effect of the application of spores was registered over the next month. The ability of L. muscarium to cause mycosis was proved by isolating strain G-033 VIZR from the galls of Adelges infected by fungus. The strain G-033 VIZR of L. muscarium showed high efficiency and a prolonged effect on the Adelgids population of two species A. pectinatae pectinatae and P. cembrae.

The preconditions for creating an exposition on the botanical and geographical site "Altai" of the Polar-Alpine Botanical Garden of the KSC RAS, represented by cenotic elements characteristic of the forests of the Altai mountains: dark-coniferous, light-coniferous and black taiga. Such expositions in botanical gardens are one of the forms of preserving the biodiversity of introduced plants ex situ. The condition, structure, species composition of the created plantings for this period - the completion of the first stage of work ("Creating a tree tier") is described. Preliminary results of plant introduction the main tree species ( Abies sibirica Ledeb., Picea obovata Ledeb., Larix sibirica Ledeb., Pinus sibirica Du Tour, Pinus sylvestris L., Tilia cordata Mill ., Populus tremula L.) forests of the Altai mountains. The condition of coniferous plants is characterized as normal: they show climate and soil resilience, have a natural rhythm of development here, go through all stages and phases of ontomorphogenesis. A comparative analysis of the rhythms of seasonal development of plants of herbaceous species characteristic of the most contrasting ecotypes of the Altai mountains (foothill and high-mountain) showed that the conditions of the Northern taiga of the Khibiny mountains of the Kola Peninsula are more consistent with plants of high-altitude habitats (high-mountain ecotype). Features of growth and development of plants of Altai species ex situ indicate successful adaptation of most of these species to the conditions of the Kola Arctic.
