Autism patients get suffer from language disorder that can be identified from the late of speaking, the problems in processing linguistic information  and understanding the speech meaning. This triggers to the learning problems that is worsened by attention disorder. The language acquisition is also affected by the limited vocabularies, starting from lexical perception up to vocabularies that are parts of semantic acquisition. In neurolinguistics perspective, complexity of language disorder for the spectrum autism can be explained based on the perceptual information management   and the domination of his brain hemisphere. Linguistic information is processed in monoprocessing due to different hemisphere domination that happens after the process  of brain lateralizes that ends up to the base of different lexicon perceptual system  and the semantic acquisition for spectrum autism so that his expressive language skill   reaches far beyond his receptive language. Language and communication deficits characterize both autism spectrum disorder and developmental language disorder, and the possibility of there being a common profile of these is a matter of tireless debate in the research community. This experimental study addresses the relation of these two developmental conditions in the critical topic of language. Α total of 103 children (79 males, 24 females) participated in the present study. Specifically, the study’s sample consisted of 40 children with autism, 28 children with developmental language disorder, and 35 typically developing children between 6 and 12 years old. All children completed language and cognitive measures. The results showed that there is a subgroup inside the autism group of children who demonstrate language difficulties similar to children with developmental language disorder. Specifically, two different subgroups were derived from the autism group; those with language impairment and those without. Both autism and language-impaired groups scored lower than typically developing children on all language measures indicating a common pathology in language ability. The results of this study shed light on the relation between the two disorders, supporting the assumption of a subgroup with language impairment inside the autism spectrum disorder population. The common picture presented by the two developmental conditions highlights the need for further research in the field.

The objective of the present study is to investigate the relationship between the receptive language, and the index of non-verbal intelligence and the level of severity of autistic disorders in primary-school-aged children with Autism spectrum disorder. One of the main areas influenced by autistic disorders is communication. Therefore, the study of the language abilities of such children and factors that affect them provides a better approach to the therapy and education. The sample included 50 children aged 7–11 years diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders. Children were tested using the KORABLIK method (basic linguistic skills), the Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children (KABC-II) or the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children ― Third Edition (WISC-III) (non-verbal intelligence), the Autism Diagnosis Observation Schedule ― Second Edition (ADOS-II) (autistic traits). The results support the hypothesis of the relationship between receptive language skills, the index of non-verbal intelligence, and symptoms of autism. The severity of autistic traits is negatively associated with some phonological and lexical levels of the receptive speech, as well as with understanding of discourse. The non-verbal intelligence index is positively associated with speech comprehension at all levels. A specific feature of receptive language in children with Autism spectrum disorder aged 7–11 years is the uneven development, which is associated with the severity of autistic traits and is not associated with the intelligence level.

IntroductionBefore the coronavirus pandemic, children who were on the Early Years Neurodevelopment (EYND) assessment pathway and suspected to have possible Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), received clinic based appointments. This process included a parental interview by a doctor, a specialist speech and language therapy assessment, autism diagnostic observation schedule (ADOS), which were all carried out on hospital sites. These were postponed in March following national guidance. Our aim was to continue providing accurate evidence-based service for ASD diagnosis.MethodsWe utilised evidence-based telehealth methods to perform a specialist speech and language assessment in a child's home via video call. Parents were also invited to share videos of everyday activities via a secure portal. We could observe the child in a meaningful setting and witness functional impact of their needs. Each case is discussed by a multiagency panel based on DSM-V criteria.Online training was undertaken by professionals to deliver the Brief Observation of Autism Symptoms (BOSA) based on the ADOS for COVID times. Parents were coached by the therapist to enable them to become the administrator, rather than a professional.ResultsTelephonic feedback from the first ten parents whose children underwent a telehealth assessment has been positive; the home was deemed more natural and for some less distressing than clinic. Formal patient surveys have been devised for both the telehealth and BOSA clinic assessments. Analysis is expected by the end of March.To date we have been able to reach an outcome for thirty children, the diagnosis of ASD for twenty-four children and the other six received a diagnosis of global developmental delay or language disorder.ConclusionsWe expect that telehealth will reduce the number of assessments before an ASD diagnosis is made resulting in more prudent healthcare. The new methods have demonstrated clear increased parental participation.

Early diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has focused on differentiating children with ASD from neurotypical children. However, many children presenting with concern for ASD are ultimately diagnosed with language disorder (LD). This study aimed to identify differences in parent-rated development and behavior among children ages 2 to 5 years presenting with concern for ASD who were diagnosed with either ASD or LD. Children with ASD were rated as more socially withdrawn and more delayed in social development and self-help skills than those with LD. Parent-rated developmental delays were positively correlated with scores on an autism screening measure and with social withdrawal and pervasive developmental problems among children with ASD. Among those with LD, parent-rated social and self-help development were positively correlated with social withdrawal and attention problems. Thus, parent ratings of social withdrawal and development of social and self-help skills may facilitate differential diagnosis of ASD and LD in children ages 2 to 5 years.
