The problem of off-tracking in looper area of a cold rolling strip production line is usually unavoidable especially when the looper carriage is located far away from the strip deviation detection device. The looper carriage itself is the best place for installing the detecting sensor. However, the wired monitoring system is not suitable because the carriage is moving and the power of common wireless monitoring system has to be recharged manually and frequently due to a high power consumption of the detecting sensor. A novel method of strip off-tracking online monitoring method via wireless sensor network with self-powered nodes is proposed, which is helpful to overcome the difficulties of the conventional methods. The energy of the wireless monitoring node was supplied by an electromagnetic induction generator driven by a devised transmission mechanism. An intelligent power-recharging control module including a single-ended primary-inductor converter was designed to charge the lead acid battery using a floating charging strategy. A selective space diversity scheme for receiving node in the wireless sensor network was put forward to resist path loss and fading in industrial environment. Theoretical analysis and experiment results have proved the feasibility of the proposed method.

To improve the efficiency of the remote monitoring system for logistics transportation, we proposed a remote monitoring system based on wireless sensor network and GPRS communication. The system can collect information from the wireless sensor network and transmit the information to the ZigBee interpreter. The monitoring system mainly includes the following parts: Car terminal, GPRS transmission network and monitoring center. Car terminal mainly consists by the Zigbee microcontroller and peripherals, wireless sensor nodes, RFID reader, GPRS wireless communication module composed of a micro-wireless monitoring network. The information collected by the sensor communicates through the GPRS and the monitoring center on the network coordinator, sends the collected information to the monitoring center, and the monitoring center realizes the information of the logistics vehicle in real time. The system has high applicability, meets the design requirements in the real-time acquisition and information transmission of the information of the logistics transport vehicles and goods, and realizes the function of remote monitoring.
