This study was aimed at describing the link between the second year students’ critical thinking skill and their argumentative writing skill at Islamic Senior High School in Palembang, South Sumatera, Indonesia. There were 60 students participated in this study. The data were obtained by using two instruments: Cornell Critical Thinking Test (CCTT) and argumentative writing test. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient and regression analysis were used to analyze the data. From the result, statistically significant positive link between students’ critical thinking skill and their argumentative writing skill was found with correlation coefficient .695, and the p-value was (.000) lower than significance value (.000 < .005). Since there was a significant link, regression analysis was used. As the result, critical thinking skill had 48.4% contribution to the students’ argumentative writing skill. In short, critical thinking skill had relationship with argumentative writing skill, and it gave 48.4 % constribution to the students’ argumentative writing skill.

The process of teaching and learning in the schools only emphasized on the knowledge and understanding aspects and lack develop the skill of critical thinking of students so that they are poorly trained to develop reasoning power in responding and solving problem or applied the concept of science in life. The objective of this study was to improve the critical thinking skill of student using guided inquiry model with SETS (Science, Environment, Technology and Social) vision. This research was conducted in Senior High School (SMAN) 1 Kampar, class of XI IPA-1 and XI IPA-3. Improvement of critical thinking skill of student is measured using pre-test and post-test. The score of pre-test and post-test was analyzed using the N-Gain tested. The result of this study showed that skill to basic explanation, constructing of basic practice, generalization, and hypothesis making as the indicator of thinking ability of student were catagorized as moderate, meanwhile indicator of applied the concept was high with 0.834 of N-Gain value. The critical thinking of students for each indicator were increased that reflected from average value of pre-test and post-test of students. The finding of this study was  guided inquiry model with SETS vision able to improve the critical thinking of student of SMAN 1 Kampar.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk berupa perangkat pembelajaran bangun ruang SMP dengan pendekatan problem-based learning yang valid, praktis, dan efektif dilihat dari pencapaian kompetensi dasar, kemampuan berpikir kritis, dan sikap terhadap matematika. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan model 4D yang meliputi tahap pendefinisian, perancangan, pengembangan, dan tahap disseminasi. Hasil penelitian berupa perangkat pembelajaran bangun ruang yang terdiri atas silabus, RPP, LKS, dan instrumen evaluasi berupa tes pencapaian kompetensi dasar dan kemampuan berpikir kritis yang valid, praktis, dan efektif. Kevalidan perangkat mencapai kategori sangat baik ditinjau dari penilaian para ahli. Kepraktisan perangkat mencapai kategori sangat baik ditinjau dari penilaian guru, penilaian peserta didik, dan observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran. Aspek keefektifan dipenuhi dari tercapainya minimal 75% peserta didik lulus KKM ditinjau dari pencapaian kompetensi dasar dan berpikir kritis, serta lebih dari 80% peserta didik mempunyai sikap terhadap matematika dalam kategori tinggi. Dari kegiatan ekperimen diperoleh bahwa perangkat yang dikembangkan lebih efektif daripada perangkat pembelajaran konvensional ditinjau dari pencapaian kompetensi dasar, berpikir kritis, dan sikap terhadap matematika. Kata Kunci: pengembangan, perangkat pembelajaran, pendekatan problem-based learning, bangun ruang SMP   DEVELOPNING SPACE LEARNING KITS IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL WITH PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING APPROACH Abstract This study was aimed to produce space learning kits with problem-based learning approach in Junior High School which was valid, practical, and effective based on achievement of basic competence, critical thinking skill, and attitude towards mathematics. This study was and development study using the 4D development model that included defining, designing, developing, and  disseminating phase. This study produced valid, practical, and effective space learning kits that consisted of syllabus, lesson plans, students’ worksheets, and assessment tests that included test of basic competence achievement and critical thinking test. Kits validity gets very good category from expert assessment. Kits practically gets very good category from teachers assessment, students assessment, and observation of learning implementation. The aspect of effectiveness was seen from achievement minimal 75% of the student pass the minimum score for achievement of basic competence and critical thinking skill, and more than 80% of student have attitude toward mathematics in high category. The result of experiment activity shows that the developed learning kits more effective than conventional learning kits based on achievement of basic competence, critical thinking, and attitude toward mathematics. <p>The skills to think critically on environmental pollution material is the skills of the learners to understand a condition that involves the process of reasoning about environmental pollution.<strong> </strong>Student’s critical thinking skills is an interaction between various factors, namely naturalist intelligence and motivation learning. Student who possess critical thinking skills are as good as those naturalist intelligence and those who are motivated to learn. This study aimed to determine the correlation between naturalist intelligence and motivation learning with student’s critical thinking skills in Jakarta on environmental pollution. This research was conducted at 68 Jakarta Senior High School on semester II of 2017/2018 school year. The method that was used is descriptive quantitative through correlational study. The sample used amount if 115 students of class X MIA. The result of prerequisite test finds that the data are normally distributed and homogeneous. The statistical hypothesis was done by linier regression test, liniearity test, and correlation coefficient test at α = 0,05. Based on these results, it is concluded there is a correlation between naturalist intelligence and motivation learning with student’s critical thinking skills on environmental pollution.</p><p> </p>
