: An efficient one pot multicomponent synthesis of 3,4- dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones has been developed from aldehyde bisulfite adducts, ethyl acetoacetate and urea using recyclable polymer supported sulfonic acid catalyst. This new method provides several advantages over previous synthesis including high product yields, commercially viable, minimal workup operations and sustainable chemical practices.

Abstract:: An efficient synthesis of 2-substituted Quinazolin-4(3H)-ones has been developed from isatoic anhydride with various amidoximes by using recyclable polymer supported sulphonic acid catalyst. Excellent functional group compatibil-ity and high yields are the important features of this protocol.

3,4-Dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones derivatives were synthesized in moderate to high yields in one-pot three component reaction from the corresponding aldehydes, 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds and urea, Coconut shell char sulfonic acid (CSCSA) used as a reusable, and efficient catalyst. Compared to the classical acid catalyst, This new protocol for the Biginelli reaction includes the following important features: excellent yields, non-toxic, inexpensive and easily available reagent.

AbstractEfficient syntheses of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2-(1H)-ones and the corresponding thioxo derivatives using 1,3-dibromo-5,5-dimethylhydantoin (DBH) catalysis of a one-pot three-component Biginelli reaction of aldehydes, ethyl acetoacetate, and urea or thiourea under microwave irradiation are described. The advantages of this method are its short reaction times, high yields of the products, inexpensive and commercially available catalyst, and solvent-free conditions. Typical isolated yields exceed 70 % for arylaldehydes (9 examples) and aliphatic aldehydes (2 examples).

A simple, versatile, and efficient synthesis of 4H-pyran derivative compounds is achieved via a three-component cyclocondensation of aldehydes, malononitrile, and ethyl acetoacetate, using ammonium hydroxide as the catalyst, promoted by infrared irradiation. The present method offers several advantages, such as high yields, non hazardous reaction conditions as well as short reaction times.

The efficient one-pot condensation of aldehyde, dimedone, and phthalhydrazide has been achieved in the presence of a catalytic amount of phospho sulfonic acid as a novel environmentally benign heterogeneous solid acid under solvent-free conditions. A diversified 2H-indazolo[1,2-b]phthalazinetrione derivatives were prepared in good to excellent yields in short time. The economical factors (time, cost, waste etc.) for this three-component reaction hold promise for the future of organic synthesis.

This study presents a simple highly versatile and efficient synthesis of various β-amino carbonyl compounds in the Mannich reaction of acetophenone with aromatic aldehydes and aromatic amines in the presence of nanosulfated zirconia, nanostructured ZnO, nano-γ-alumina, and nano-ZSM-5 zeolites as the catalyst in ethanol at moderate temperature. The optical properties of the nanostructured organic molecules were studied. The advantages of methods are short reaction times, milder conditions, easy workup, and purification of products by nonchromatographic methods. The catalysts can be recovered for the subsequent reactions and reused without any appreciable loss of efficiency.
