Present study deals with the study of some lower aquatic fungi different regions of Maharashtra viz., Acaulopage dichotoma Drechsler belong to family Zoophagacea (Class- Zygomycetes) while Achlya oblongata de Bary, Brevilegnia megasperma Harvey, Saprolegnia ferax (Gruith) Thuret and Saprolegnia subterranae (Dissman) Seymour belongs to family Saprolegniaceae (Class - Oomycetes). All these are new records of aquatic fungi from the Maharashtra state.

Aquatic fungi were isolated from sea foam, leaf litter, beach sand, and driftwood in an estuary known as "La Boca" (river mouth) of the Manatí River in Barceloneta, northern Puerto Rico. Observations of the baits (sterilized balsa wood) and incubated organic debris, revealed the presence of 28 species of aquatic fungi, 13 of which belong to the ascomycetes and 15 to the mitosporic fungi. The species Arenariomyces triseptatus, Corollospora cf. colossa, C. filiformis, Halosphaeria sp., Kirschsteiniothelia sp., Astrosphaeriella aff. mangrovei, Torpedospora radiata (Ascomycota), Brachiosphaera tropicalis, Campylospora sp., and Clavatospora bulbosa (Mitosporic fungi) were the most common in the samples. Eleven species are new records for Puerto Rico; six fungal isolates could not be identified.

AbstractWe analyzed species composition of aquatic fungi and straminipilous organisms in six lakes located within the Augustowska Primeval Forest, Poland. Mycological observations conducted in the spring and autumn seasons together with hydrochemical analysis in the 2010–2012 revealed the presence of 44 species (10 aquatic fungi and 34 straminipilous organisms). Among the taxa detected, there were some potential pathogens of economically valuable fish species and spawn, including Achlya americana, Ac. polyandra, Saprolegnia ferax and S. parasitica. Some of the species were crustacean pathogens, such as Lagenidium giganteum, Myzocytium microsporum and M. zoophthorum. There were also some common human pathogens Aspergillus niger and Candida tropicalis. Some species, such as Achlya klebsiana, Ac. prolifera, Nowakowskiella elegans, N. macrospora, Pythium debaryanum, Py. inflatum, Rhizophlyctis rosea and Saprolegnia litoralis were common phytosaprobionts.The largest number of species of fungi and straminipilous organisms was identified in Lake Sajenek (22), the fewest in Lake Białe (12).The quantitative composition and qualitative differentiation of mycobiota were influenced by the content of biogenic compounds and the amount of organic substance. The elevated levels of these parameters (Lake Sajenek) stimulated the growth of fungi and straminipilous organisms, whereas very low concentrations of biogenic compounds and a small amount of organic matter (Lake Białe) had an inhibitory effect.Statistical analysis of the results was conducted to determine the correlations between the number of fungal and straminipilous species and the hydrochemical parameters, i.e. water temperature, the level of nitrogen compounds (nitrate nitrogen, ammonium nitrogen), calcium carbohydrate, magnesium carbohydrate, water oxidizability and the content of dry residue, dissolved substances and suspension.

Abstract Markovskaja S., 2012: Aero-aquatic fungi colonizing decaying leaves in woodland swampy pools of Aukštadvaris Regional Park (Lithuania) (Oro-vandens grybai kolonizuojantys pūvančius lapus užpelkėjusiose miško balose Aukštadvario regioniniame parke) - Bot. Lith., 18(2): 123-132. Comparatively high diversity of fungi (26 species) decomposing leaf litter were found in small lentic habitats (swampy pools) in mixed Gubiškiai Forest of Aukštadvaris Regional Park. Together with widespread aquatic and terrestrial fungi, 14 species of aero-aquatic hyphomycetes were found colonizing freshly fallen leaves of Quercus robur, Tilia cordata and Alnus glutinosa in autumn 2011. Of these, six species, Ardhachandra cristaspora,Candelabrum spinulosum, C. clathrosphaeroides, Dactylaria fusiformis, Helicodendron tubulosum and Xylomyces giganteus were recorded for the first time in Lithuania. In addition, a noteworthy new aero-aquatic fungus, preliminary placed in the genus Pseudospiropes by morphological characterization, was found on decaying leaves of Quercus robur. New records to the country and rare species are illustrated, their morphological and ecological peculiarities are discussed herein.

The floristic exploration and critical examination of specimens collected of family Convolvulaceae from Upper Gangetic Plains of India, resulted in addition of 2 new records for the flora viz. Ipomoea littoralis and Ipomoea capitellata var. multilobata. Detailed description, phenology, ecology, distribution, locality, field number, type specimens examined, illustrations and other relevant notes are provided.
