In 2015, the Film Museum in Lodz, Department of History and Theory of Film at the University of Lodz and the Polish Filmmakers Association worked together on a project “12 films for 120 years of cinema”. Filmmakers and people professionally involved in film culture were asked to compile their 12 best films ever and their 12 best Polish films. The organisers received 279 responses which mentioned 1,348 films in total. After analysing the results, the lists of best movies were published as well as variant lists according to the respondents’ profession and age. The first part of the paper raises questions regarding aesthetic axiology (as far as culture-based text hierarchies are concerned) and social communication (which concerns the question of a canon: who establishes it and for what purpose?). In the second part of the article, the authors discuss the results of the poll, highlighting shortcomings of the project when compared to similar polls in the past.

AbstractThe authors analyse the economic position of households in Serbia during the recent social transition towards a consolidated capitalist society. Of central importance here is a determination of the overall population’s economic position, with emphasis on the changes during the gradual consolidation of the capitalist order. The study is based on the analysis of statewide representative samples from three comparable research surveys conducted by the Institute for Sociological Research of the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Philosophy in 2003, 2012, and 2018. The analysis yielded results indicating that the economic position of households in Serbia, despite improvement during a recent period of capitalist consolidation (2018) when compared to an earlier period marked by a cyclical economic crisis (2012), is still lower than it had been during the first years of the country’s accelerated postsocialist transformation (2003).

The paper presents an analysis of one episode from the life of two Russian scientists, namely the discussion between P. Novgorodtsev and his student V. Savalskiy. All the poignancy of the episode lies in the fact that both opposing thinkers had been followers of neokantianism trends in philosophy, and defended the concept of natural law. In addition, a detailed description of life and work of the little-known philosopher of law Vasiliy Alexandrovich Savalskiy is given. It is noted that at the beginning of his scientific search, he became the main researcher and critic of the teachings of neo-kantians in Russia. During his time at the University of Warsaw V. Savalskiy studied the problems of history and theory of state and law, constitutional law.

That is, to reflect on the production of educational knowledge in the context of university education, in particular, in the analysis of the role of the university in its task of human formation. At first moment, the issue of “neoliberal” rhetoric that insists on intervening in the field of education is discussed, in particular, in the way of disqualifying human areas. Secondly, based on the concept of “semi-formation”, we seek to bring a key to the analysis of the issue of cultural formation at the university level. Finally, some reflective hypotheses are raised about the role of university education as a space for the production of knowledge and the possibilities of an emancipatory education. Keywords: University.
