In this paper, the optimal preview tracking control problem for a class of linear discrete-time periodic systems is investigated and the method to design the optimal preview controller for such systems is given. Initially, by fully considering the characteristic that the coefficient matrices are periodic functions, the system can be converted into a time-invariant system through lifting method. Then, the original problem is also transformed into the scenario of time-invariant system. Later on, the augmented system is constructed and the preview controller of the original system is obtained with the help of existing preview control method. The controller comprises integrator, state feedback, and preview feedforward. Finally, the simulation example shows the effectiveness of the proposed preview controller in improving the tracking performance of the close-loop system.

A robust optimal preview control method is presented in this paper for path tracking control problems to improve robustness and tracking precision of path tracking control systems. The known path information is used as reference input signals. Simulation results show that this method is valid not only for improving the performance of highly accurate trajectory control but also for improving system stabilization.

Abstract In this paper, the optimal tracking control problem for discrete-time with state and input delays is studied based on the preview control method. First, a transformation is introduced. Thus, the system is transformed into a non-delayed system and the tracking problem of the time-delay system is transformed into the regulation problem of a non-delayed system via processing of the reference signal. Then, by applying the preview control theory, an augmented system for the non-delayed system is derived, and a controller with preview function is designed, assuming that the reference signal is previewable. Finally, the optimal control law of the augmented error system and the optimal control law of the original system are obtained by letting the preview length of the reference signal go to zero.

This paper discusses the optimal control problem for a class of linear continuous-time stochastic systems with time-delay based on the preview control method. In the design procedure, the time-delay terms are formally eliminated and the augmented error system method is used. The optimal controller of the time-delay stochastic system is obtained based on dynamic programming principle. In the previous approaches, the preview control method is applied to continuous-time deterministic system. Consequently, compared with the existing results, the main contributions of this paper are: (1) the conclusion of the non-singular transformation is improved and (2) the conclusion in deterministic system is extended by using the methods of designing an assistant system and introducing an integrator when building the stochastic augmented error system. The optimal tracking of the stochastic system with time-delay is realized by solving the optimal regulation problem of the stochastic augmented error system. The simulation shows the effectiveness of the controller designed in this paper.
