South America is one of the least known areas in terms of its fauna of aquatic mites. In this work we report the presence of two new species of the water mite genus Rhyncholimnochares in the Amazonian region of Ecuador, giving the morphological description and the DNA barcode when possible.

Two new species of the genus Analges (Astigmata: Analgoidea) are described from two species of accentors (Passeriformes: Prunellidae): Analges himalayanus sp. nov. from the Altai Accentor P. himalayana (Blyth), and A. slovakiensis sp. nov. from the Alpine Accentor Prunella collaris (Scopoli). Both species are closely related to A. bidentatus Giebel, 1871 described from the Dunnock Prunella modularis (Linnaeus). We extended the standard morphological descriptions of feather mites by species delimitation analyses carried out on DNA barcode sequences.

This is the first record of the genus Ljania Thor, 1898 (Axonopsinae, Aturidae, Hydrachnidiae, Acari) from China. Two new species, Ljania jini sp. nov. and Ljania guangxiensis sp. nov., are described from Guangxi Province, P. R. China. The new detections bring the total number of Chinese aturid mites to eleven species, representing seven genera.

A new species Calcealges bochkovi sp. n. (Astigmata: Analgoidea) is described from the lowland tiny greenbul Phyllastrephus debilis (Sclater) from Mozambique. This species is close to C. gyroplax Gaud et Mouchet, 1957 described from African bulbuls. Both sexes of these species are very similar in general body shape: in particular, in the form of the epimerites and of the opisthosomal lobes, as well as in the shape of the dorsal shields. The main diagnostic feature of the new species is the striation of dorsal shields, especially pronounced on the prodorsum (in C. gyroplax, these shields lack striae and they are uniformly dotted). The standard morphological description is supplemented by the COI barcode data.

New records are presented of the water mite genus Arrenurus from Argentina, Bolivia and Surinam. Five new species are described, i.e. Arrenurus mansoensis n. sp., A. niger n. sp., A. stagnalis n. sp., A. surinamensis n. sp. and A. tempelmani n. sp., and one new subspecies, i.e. A. tenuicollis lacustris n. subsp. Arrenurus soesilae Makan, 2005 is synonymized with A. epimerosus Marshall, 1919.

Two new species of the water mite genus Aspidiobates are described from Queensland, Australia, i.e. A. imperfectus n. sp. and A. neogeometricus n. sp. Many new records are given for eastern and south-eastern Australia. Finally, a key is provided for all Australian Aspidiobates species.

New information about the distribution of the species of the water mite genus Monatractides K. Viets (Acari: Hydrachnidia, Torrenticolidae) in Iran is presented. Two species (Monatractides vafaei and M. persicus) are described as new to science. A first Iranian record is given for Monatractides algeriensis Lundblad, 1941, a species previously known from Algeria and Southern Italy.

Abstract—A synopsis of Dicliptera (Acanthaceae) for Brazil is presented. Six species are recognized: Dicliptera ciliaris, D. sexangularis, and D. squarrosa, widely distributed in South America; D. purpurascens, which ranges from the North Region of Brazil (in the state of Acre) to eastern Bolivia; D. gracilirama, a new species from the Atlantic Forest of northeastern Brazil; and D. granchaquenha, a new species recorded in dry and semideciduous forests in Bolivia and western Brazil, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Furthermore, we propose new synonyms and designate lectotypes for eleven names. An identification key to the six accepted Dicliptera species in Brazil is provided.
