The feather mite Plesialges mimus Trouessart, 1919, briefly described from the White-browed Babbler Pomatostomus superciliosus (Vigors & Horsfield) (Passeriformes: Pomatostomidae), is the only species of the genus Plesialges Trouessart, 1919. In this work, I redescribe this mite species based on the type specimens, transfer it into the genus Hemialges Trouessart, 1895, and provide it with the valid name Hemialges mimus (Trouessart, 1919) comb. n. The genus Plesialges syn. n. is synonymized with the genus Hemialges. A new diagnosis, comments on taxonomy and an updated checklist of species are provided for the genus Hemialges. The transfer of P. mimus to the genus Hemialges created a conflict with the previously named Hemialges mimus Trouessart, 1920 from the Trumpet Manucode, Phonygammus keraudrenii (Lesson & Garnot) (Passeriformes: Paradisaeidae). Hemialges mimus (Trouessart, 1919) comb. n. is now the older homonym within this genus and H. mimus Trouessart, 1920 from the Trumpet Manucode is a junior homonym; here I provide the latter with a new name, Hemialges trouessarti nom. n.

AbstractA new feather mite species, Tyrannidectes pteroptochi sp. n. (Astigmata: Proctophyllodidae: Pterodectinae), is described from the Moustached Turca Pteroptochos megapodius Kittlitz, 1830 (Passeriformes: Rhinocryptidae) in Chile. This is the first record of mites of the genus Tyrannidectes Mironov 2008 from this family of passerines. Tyrannidectes pteroptochi is clearly distinguished from all previously known Tyrannidectes species by having several unique features in females: whip-like hysteronotal macrosetae h2, hysteronotal setae h3 exceeding the length of the terminal appendages, and spiculiform pseudanal setae ps2 and ps3. A brief review of taxonomic works on the Tyrannidectes is provided.

Four new species of the feather mite genus Anhemialges (Astigmata: Analgidae) are described from passeriform birds in China: A. lioparus sp. nov. from the Golden–breasted Fulvetta Lioparus chrysotis (Passeriformes, Paradoxornithidae); A. aegithalos sp. nov. from the Black–throated Tit Aegithalos concinnus (Passeriformes, Aegithalidae); A. seicercus sp. nov. from the Golden–spectacled Warbler Seicercus burkii (Passeriformes, Phylloscopidae); and A. zosterops sp. nov. from the Oriental White–eye Zosterops palpebrosus (Passeriformes, Zosteropidae).

AbstractA new feather mite species Dubininia microhieracis sp. n. (Analgoidea: Xolalgidae) is described from the Black-thighed Falconet Microhierax fringillarius (Drapiez) (Falconiformes: Falconidae) from Java. This is the second species of the genus Dubininia found on falconiform hosts; most known species of this genus are associated with parrots (Psittaciformes).

Two new mite species belonging to the genus Stereotydeus Berlese, 1901 were discovered from locations along the coast of Victoria Land, continental Antarctica. Previous records of this genus in the area under study only reported the presence of S. belli and S. mollis. Although those studies included no morphological analyses, it has since been assumed that only these species were present within the area. Specimens of S. ineffabilis sp. nov. and S. nunatakis sp. nov. were obtained, sometimes in sympatry, from four different localities in Central and South Victoria Land and are here described and illustrated using optical and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. Features useful for identification of the two new Stereotydeus species include the size of the specimens, the length of the apical segment of pedipalps, the presence/absence of division of the femora, the position of solenidia, the shape and disposition of the rhagidiform organs on the tarsi, the shape of the apical setae of the tarsi, the numbers of aggenital setae and the position of the anal opening. A key to 14 of the 15 currently described Antarctic and sub-Antarctic Stereotydeus species is provided.

Two new species of the feather mite genus Trochilodectes Park & Atyeo (Acariformes: Proctophyllodidae) are described from hummingbirds (Apodiformes: Trochilidae) in Colombia: T. capitocaudatus sp. nov. from Ocreatus underwoodii (Lesson, 1832) and T. andinus sp. nov. from Phaethornis guy (Lesson, 1833). A key to all presently known species of the genus Trochilodectes is presented.

Early American acarologists proposed several species that have been recombined to the oribatid mite genus Epidamaeus (Damaeidae), but none has been redescribed to modern standards. These include E. puritanicus (Banks, 1906), E. michaeli (Ewing, 1909), E. globifer (Ewing, 1913), E. florida (Wilson, 1936), E. olitor (Jacot, 1937), and E. craigheadi (Jacot, 1939). We redescribe and illustrate these species, based on available type specimens and other material in various collections, and give an indication of their overall distributions. Juvenile instars are at least partly described for all except E. florida and E. olitor. Since these six collectively include the most encountered Epidamaeus species in the eastern USA, a diagnostic key is presented that also includes E. arcticola (Hammer, 1952), which is reliably recorded from eastern North America (New Hampshire) for the first time. A neotype is selected for E. michaeli, which is considered a senior subjective synonym of E. canadensis (Banks, 1909) [new syn.]. Synonymy of E. puritanicus with E. grandjeani (Bulanova-Zachvatkina, 1957) is rejected.

Three water mite species of the genus Torrenticola Piersig, 1896 are reported from Foding Mountain National Nature Reserve, Guizhou Province, China. Torrenticola fodingensis Gu & Guo, n. sp. and T. tenuichelicera Gu & Guo, n. sp. are described and illustrated as new to science, and T. nipponica (Enami, 1940) is recorded in China for the first time, with the first description and illustration of its deutonymph. In addition, a key to the species ofTorrenticola in China is presented in this paper. The type specimens of the new species are deposited in Institute of Entomology, Guizhou University, Guiyang, P. R. China (GUGC).

Two new species of the genus Analges (Astigmata: Analgoidea) are described from two species of accentors (Passeriformes: Prunellidae): Analges himalayanus sp. nov. from the Altai Accentor P. himalayana (Blyth), and A. slovakiensis sp. nov. from the Alpine Accentor Prunella collaris (Scopoli). Both species are closely related to A. bidentatus Giebel, 1871 described from the Dunnock Prunella modularis (Linnaeus). We extended the standard morphological descriptions of feather mites by species delimitation analyses carried out on DNA barcode sequences.
