Abstract The paper investigates convection heat and mass transfer in power law fluid flow with non relaxation time past a vertical porous plate in presence of a chemical reaction, heat generation, thermo diffu- sion and thermal diffusion. The non - linear partial differential equations governing the flow are transformed into ordinary differential equations using the usual similarity method. The resulting similarity equations are solved numerically using Runge-Kutta shooting method. The results are presented as velocity, temperature and concentration profiles for pseudo plastic fluids and for different values of parameters governing the prob- lem. The skin friction, heat transfer and mass transfer rates are presented numerically in tabular form. The results show that these parameters have significant effects on the flow, heat transfer and mass transfer.

The paper presents the numerical investigation of the convection heat and mass transfer in a hydromagnetic Carreau fluid past a vertical porous plate in presence of thermal radiation and thermal diffusion. The non-linear partial differential equations governing the flow are transformed into ordinary differential equations using the usual similarity method and the resulting similarity equations are solved numerically using Runge-Kutta shooting method. The results are presented as velocity, temperature and concentration profiles for different values of parameters entering into the problem. The effects of suction, magnetic field, thermal radiation and thermal diffusion on the skin friction, rate of heat transfer and mass transfer are presented numerically in tabular form.

The problem of a magneto-hydro dynamic flow and heat transfer to a non-Newtonian power-law fluid flow past a continuously moving flat porous plate in the presence of sucion/injection with heat flux by taking into consideration the viscous dissipation is analysed. The non-linear partial differential equations governing the flow and heat transfer are transformed into non-linear ordinary differential equations using appropriate transformations and then solved numerically by an implicit finite difference scheme. The solution is found to be dependent on various governing parameters including the magnetic field parameter M, power-law index n, suction/injection parameter ƒw, Prandtl number Pr and Eckert number Ec. A systematical study is carried out to illustrate the effects of these major parameters on the velocity profiles, temperature profile, skin friction coefficient and rate of heat transfer and the local Nusslet number.

Mixed convection heat and mass transfer along a vertical plate embedded in a power-law fluid saturated Darcy porous medium with Soret and Dufour effects is studied. The governing partial differential equations are transformed into ordinary differential equations using similarity transformations and then solved numerically using shooting method. The effect of Soret and Dufour parameters, power law index and mixed convection parameter on non-dimensional velocity, temperature and concentration fields are discussed. The variation of different parameters on heat and mass transfer rates is presented in tabular form.
