AbstractIn this paper, impacts of magnetic field and porosity on the entropy generation of sodium-alginate (C6H9NaO7) fluid are studied. C6H9NaO7 is taken over a moving and heated vertical wall. Heat transfer is due to free convection. Initially, the problem is formulated in the form of PDEs along with physical conditions and then written in non-dimensional form. Problem is solved via Laplace transform and expression in analytical form is established for temperature and velocity field. The related relations for entropy generation and Bejan number and entropy generation are also examined. Nusselt number and Skin-friction are calculated and plotted in graphs. For numerical computations, a finite difference scheme is used using MATLAB software. The results in tables and graphs are discussed for embedded parameters. It is found that the magnetic field and porosity have strong influence on velocity, entropy generation and Bejan number. For greater Hartman number, entropy generation magnitude is greater compared to the Bejan number, conversely, this variation in Bejan number is more efficient. The porosity effect showed that if the medium is more porous, the entropy generation can decreases 50% when porosity increase from Ka = 1 to Ka = 2, however the Bejan number increases.

In the present study, the physical features of the bioconvective MHD flow of a couple stress fluid over an upper horizontal surface (i.e. surface shaped like a submarine or any ( uhsp) aerodynamical automobile) is analysed by considering radiation and viscous dissipation effects. In the fluid-saturated domain flow is induced due to the reaction of catalytic surface, double diffusion and stretching fluid layers. In fact, couple stress fluid is electrically conducted because non-uniform magnetic field is imposed. With the assistance of appropriate similarity transformations governing equations of the study are reduced to set of ordinary differential equations. Thereafter, built-in MATLAB solver bvp4c is implemented to solve the system numerically. By means of graphs and tables variations of the velocity, temperature, concentration, friction factor, local heat and mass transfer rates are observed thoroughly by varying the flow controlling parameters. From this analysis, main observations are, for rising values of couple stress and magnetic parameter velocity is decline, whereas temperature rises for the same parameters and increase in the thermal boundary layer is noted for the Brinkman number, whereas reverse trend is noted in the concentration boundary layer. Finally, comparison is done and a good correlation is identified between the present analysis and perversely recorded analysis.

Heat generation effect in a steady two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) flow over a moving vertical plate with a medium porosity has been studied. By similarity transformation variables, the coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations describing the model are obtained. The resulting equation is then solved, using Galerkin Weighted Residual Method (GWRM), where the effect of heat generation, Magnetic Parameter as well as other physical parameters encountered were examined and discussed. Some of the major findings were that increase in heat generation and convective heat parameter enhances the plate surface temperature as well as temperature field which allows the thermal effect to penetrate deeper into the quiescent fluid.

Abstract In this study, two separate boundary condition models, as proposed by Beskok and Karniadakis [1] and Deissler [2], widely preferred for the second order boundary condition, were used. These two proposed boundary condition models were solved in the presence of a magnetic field moving normal to the plate surface in magneto-hydrodynamic (MHD) flow between micro-parallel plates with constant wall heat flux. The energy equation for the second-order temperature jump boundary condition, taking into account the momentum and viscous dissipation, as well as the corresponding Nusselt value were solved analytically in slip flow regime. The flow of an incompressible viscous flow between fixed micro-parallel plates with electrical conductivity is assumed to be constant, laminar, hydrodynamically and thermally developed. The closed form solutions for the temperature field and the fully developed Nusselt number are derived as a function of the Magnetic parameter (MHD), Knudsen number and Brinkman number and shown graphically and in a tabular form. The second order boundary condition model proposed by Deissler [2] predicts the Nusselt number to be at lower values when compared to the first order boundary condition model, and the second order boundary condition model proposed by Beskok and Karniadakis [1] predicts the Nusselt number to be at higher values than that of the first order boundary condition model. Moreover, increasing the magnetic field parameter M, led to higher Nusselt values in the slip flow model proposed by both Deissler [2] and Beskok and Karniadakis [1] compared to that when M = 0.

In this paper an examination is completed to explore the influence of variable thickness and variable thermal conductivity on MHD stream. We have considered the governing stream and heat transfer conditions as partial differential equations. These non-linear partial differential equations are changed to non-linear ordinary differential equations at that point explained numerically utilizing fourth order RK strategy with shooting procedure. The influence of governing factors on velocity and temperature is concentrated through diagrams and numerical estimations of skin frictions and wall temperature inclination are determined, classified and examined.

Many boundary value problems (BVPs) have dual solutions in some cases containing one stable solution (upper branch) while other unstable (lower branch). In this paper, MHD flow and heat transfer past a shrinking sheet is studied for three distinct fluids: kerosene hybrid nanofluid, kerosene nanofluid, and kerosene nanofluid. The partial differential equations (PDEs) are turned into ordinary differential equations (ODEs) using an appropriate transformation and then dual solutions are obtained analytically by employing the Least Square method (LSM). Moreover, stability analysis is implemented on the time-dependent case by calculating the least eigenvalues using Matlab routine bvp4c. It is noticed that negative eigenvalue is related to unstable solution i.e., it provides initial progress of disturbance and positive eigenvalue is related to stable solution i.e., the disturbance in solution decline initially. The impacts of various parameters, skin friction coefficient, and local Nusselt number for dual solutions are presented graphically. It is also noted that the results obtained for hybrid nanofluids are better than ordinary nanofluids.

In this analysis, the flow and heat transfer characteristics of an aqueous hybrid nanofluid with TiO2 and Cu as the nanoparticles past a horizontal slim needle in the presence of thermal radiation effect is investigated. We hope that the present research is applicable in fiber technology, polymer ejection, blood flow, etc. The Prandtl number of the base fluid is kept constant at 6.2. The needle is considered thin when its thickness does not exceed that of the boundary layer over it. Using the similarity transformation method, the governing PDEs are transformed to a set of non-linear ODEs. Then, the converted ODEs are numerically solved with help of bvp4c routine from MATLAB. Results indicate that the dual similarity solutions are obtained only when the slim needle moves in the opposite direction of the free stream. In addition, the first solutions are stable and physically realizable. Besides, the second nanoparticle's mass and also the magnetic parameter lead to decrease the range of the velocity ratio parameter for which the solution exists.
