This paper introduced aimed to solve the poor management of schedule, one of the major problems at Isabela State University-Main Campus. Scheduling is a process conducted before a certain event would be executed. The study used and adopt the Representation and Fitness Methods of Genetic Algorithm to formulate a solution. The study showed that the adaptation of the two methods is well fitted for use in solving the stated problem. The representation method creates and generates the pre-scheduling template to be used for the plotting of schedules, and fitness method is how the pre-scheduling template generated and created. The researchers used some criterion of ISO 9126 Standard as an instrument to determine its functionality and usability. Results showed that the representation and fitness methods of the genetic algorithm make the scheduling process more accurate and reliable schedules, lessen the time-consumed and lessen the time-conflicts in the plotted schedules. For future studies to be conducted reformulation of fitness function to include the other components and variables of scheduling like individual schedules for both regular and irregular student and campus extension integration and considering the other indicator of the instrument used are significantly suggested.

The current expansion of national colleges and universities or the increase in the number of enrolments requires teaching management to ensure the quality of teaching. The problem of scheduling is a very complicated prob-lem in teaching management, and there are many restrictions. If the number of courses scheduled is large, it will be necessary to repeat the experiment and make adjustments. This kind of work is difficult to accomplish accu-rately by manpower. Moreover, for a comprehensive university, there are many subjects, many professional settings, limited classroom resources, limited multimedia classroom resources, and other factors that limit and constrain the results of class scheduling. Such a large data volume and com-plicated workforce are difficult to complete accurately. Therefore, manpow-er scheduling cannot meet the needs of the educational administration of colleges and universities. Today, computer technology is highly developed. It is very economical to use software technology to design a course schedul-ing system and let the computer complete this demanding and rigorous work. Common course scheduling systems mainly include hill climbing al-gorithms, tabu search algorithms, ant colony algorithms, and simulated an-nealing algorithms. These algorithms have certain shortcomings. In this re-search, we investigated the mutation genetic algorithm and applied the algo-rithm to the student’s scheduling system. Finally, we tested the running speed and accuracy of the system. We found that the algorithm worked well in the course scheduling system and provided strong support for solving the tedious scheduling work of the educational administration staff.

The problem of midwife scheduling is one of the most frequent problems in hospitals. Midwife should be available 24 hours a day for a full week to meet the needs of the patient. Therefore, good or bad midwife scheduling result will have an impact on the quality of care on the patient and the health of the midwife on duty. The midwife scheduling process requires a lot of time, effort and good cooperation between some parties to solve this problem that is often faced by the Regional Public Hospital Undata Palu Central Sulawesi Province. This research aimed to apply Memetics algorithm to make scheduling system of midwifery staff at Regional Public Hospital Undata Palu Central Sulawesi Province that can facilitate the process of midwifery scheduling as well as to produce optimal schedule. The scheduling system created will follow the rules and policies applicable in the hospital and will also pay attention to the midwife's preferences on how to schedule them according to their habits and needs. Memetics algorithm is an optimization algorithm that combines Evolution Algorithm  and Local Search method. Evolution Algorithm in Memetics Algorithm generally refers to Genetic Algorithm so that the characteristics of Memetics Algotihm are identical with  Genetic Algorithm characteristics with the addition of Local Search methods. Local Search in Memetic Algorithm aims to improve the quality of an individual so it is expected to accelerate the time to get a solution.

This paper aims produce an academic scheduling system using Genetic Algorithm (GA) to solve the academic schedule. Factors to consider in academic scheduling are the lecture to be held, the available room, the lecturers and the time of the lecturer, the suitability of the credits with the time of the lecture, and perhaps also the time of Friday prayers, and so forth. Genetic Algorithms can provide the best solution for some solutions in dealing with scheduling problems. Based on the test results, the resulting system can automate the scheduling of lectures properly. Determination of parameter values in Genetic Algorithm also gives effect in producing the solution of lecture schedule

The study tested the functionality of Automated Class Scheduling System in terms of speed, data handling, accuracy, security, stability and adaptability in making class schedules. This study was conducted in Bohol Island State University Main Campus, Tagbilaran City during the second semester of school year 2010-2011. The respondents of this study were the 6 expert instructors in the field of computer programming. They tested and evaluated the functionality of the program in terms of its design, accuracy, data handling, security, stability and adaptability. Another 8 instructors who are in charge of making class schedules determined the functionality of the system in terms of speed, accuracy, data handling, stability and adaptability of the software. Separate set of questionnaires were given to two groups of respondents. The study concluded that the manual and the automated class scheduling systems are both functional. However, the automated system is more functional because of its extra features which solve the primary problems in creating class schedules. Keywords - class scheduling system, scheduling software, automated class schedule
