To develop new wood cellulose resources and fast-growing pulpwood plantation fiber sources, it is very important to evaluate their pulping properties. A comprehensive multi-index pulping-suitability evaluation model is investigated in this paper by considering four fast-growing wood species. First, a new evaluation-index system for kraft pulp was developed based on traditional evaluation-index systems. Then, the membership degree of every index was analyzed to obtain a fuzzy matrix. The proportional contribution of each parameter to the main pulping properties could then be determined. Finally, a comprehensive evaluation model of kraft pulp properties was developed. The model is reliable compared with traditional assessment methods. The results confirmed the feasibility and rationality of developing new wood cellulose resources and fast-growing pulpwood plantations using fuzzy comprehensive evaluations.

El objetivo principal fue la identificación de microorganismos del género Phytophthora que afectan a bosques naturales mixtos y viveros de Pinus sp. y Quercus sp., con importancia socioeconómica, en los departamentos de Guatemala y Sacatepéquez. Para el aislamiento de Phytophthora se procesaron muestras de suelo y tejido vegetal.En el departamento de Guatemala, del bosque natural se obtuvieron 10 muestras de Quercus sp. y 45 de Pinus sp., de los viveros se obtuvieron 11 muestras de Quercus sp. y 88 de Pinus sp. En el departamento de Sacatepéquez se obtuvieron del bosque natural 15 muestras de Quercus sp. y 48 de Pinus sp.; y en los viveros, 58 muestras de Pinus sp. y 25 de Quercus sp. Un total de 13 muestras procedentes de los viveros fueron positivas a la presencia de Phytophthora sp. en Pinus maximinoi, 10 procedentes del departamento de Guatemala, y tres de Sacatepéquez. Referente al tipo de crecimiento de la colonia en medio PDA, se obtuvieron cinco de tipo estoloní­fero, cinco tipo semipetaloide, una colonia de tipo estelado y dos colonias sin ningún tipo de patrón de crecimiento. Las pruebas de patogenicidad realizadas con la cepa VP16 mostraron alta incidencia y severidad para las especies de Pinus caribaea, P. oocarpa, P. pseudostrobus, P. maximinoi y en menor grado en Pinus tecunumanii.

Fusarium circinatum poses a serious threat to many pine species in both commercial and natural pine forests. Knowledge regarding the molecular basis of pine-F. circinatum host-pathogen interactions could assist efforts to produce more resistant planting stock. This study aimed to identify molecular responses underlying resistance against F. circinatum. A dual RNA-seq approach was used to investigate host and pathogen expression in F. circinatum challenged Pinus tecunumanii (resistant) and Pinus patula (susceptible), at three- and seven-days post inoculation. RNA-seq reads were mapped to combined host-pathogen references for both pine species to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs). F. circinatum genes expressed during infection showed decreased ergosterol biosynthesis in P. tecunumanii relative to P. patula. For P. tecunumanii, enriched gene ontologies and DEGs indicated roles for auxin-, ethylene-, jasmonate- and salicylate-mediated phytohormone signalling. Correspondingly, key phytohormone signaling components were down-regulated in P. patula. Key F. circinatum ergosterol biosynthesis genes were expressed at lower levels during infection of the resistant relative to the susceptible host. This study further suggests that coordination of phytohormone signaling is required for F. circinatum resistance in P. tecunumanii, while a comparatively delayed response and impaired phytohormone signaling contributes to susceptibility in P. patula.

O presente trabalho teve por objetivos determinar a densidade aparente de painéis OSB de Pinus taeda e Pinus elliottii var. elliottii × Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis pelo método gravimétrico e pela densitometria de raios X, obter os perfis densitométricos e verificar sua correlação com a propriedade mecânica de ligação interna. A densidade aparente dos painéis foi determinada pela densitometria de raios X e pelo método gravimétrico, utilizando três corpos de prova (50 × 50 mm) por tratamento. Após as determinações de densidade aparente, os 24 corpos de prova foram submetidos ao ensaio de ligação interna. O método gravimétrico aplicado na determinação da densidade aparente apresentou resultados significativamente maiores do que o método densitométrico. Verificou-se que a densidade mínima do painel, obtida pela densitometria de raios X, teve forte influência na densidade média do painel. Houve correlação entre os valores de densidade aparente dos painéis obtidos por atenuação de raios X e os resultados de ligação interna.
