Potassium is a macro nutrient that can affect the quality and quantity of oil palm bunches as well as resistance to disease and drought stress. So far, testing the status of potassium nutrient uptake in people's plantations in Perlabian Village, Kampung Rakyat Labuhanbatu Selatan District has never been carried out. Fertilization and maintenance are carried out through knowledge from generation to generation, so it is important to have a study on the nutrient uptake status of potassium in oil palm leaves. This research was conducted using a free grid survey method at the semi-detailed survey level with a density of 100 meters. A total of 6 leaf samples were taken on the 17th leaf midrib and then rubbed with 70% alcohol and then put into the plastic sample for further testing in the laboratory of PT. Socfindo. The results showed that the potassium in leaf samples 1, 3 and 4 experienced deficiency and leaf samples 2, 5 and 6 were at the optimum. In oil palm plantations in smallholder plantations in Perlabian Village, Kampung Rakyat Subdistrict, it shows that the total K content of leaves is included in the optimum category.

To determine the effect of corticosteroids on active transport processes, unidirectional fluxes of 22Na, 36Cl, and 42K were measured under short-circuit conditions across isolated stripped distal colonic mucosa of the rat in control, secondary hyperaldosterone, and dexamethasone-treated animals. In controls net sodium and chloride fluxes (JNanet and JClnet) and short-circuit current (Isc) were 6.6 +/- 2.2, 7.6 +/- 1.6, and 1.3 +/- 0.2 mu eq X h-1 X cm-2, respectively. Although aldosterone increased Isc to 7.3 +/- 0.5 mu eq X h-1 X cm-2, JNanet (6.9 +/- 0.7 mu eq X h-1 X cm-2) was not altered and JClnet was reduced to 0 compared with controls. Dexamethasone also stimulated Isc but did not inhibit JClnet. In Cl-free Ringer both aldosterone and dexamethasone produced significant and equal increases in JNanet and Isc. Theophylline abolished JNanet in control animals but not in the aldosterone group. Aldosterone reversed net potassium absorption (0.58 +/- 0.11 mu eq X h-1 X cm-2) to net potassium secretion (-0.94 +/- 0.08 mu eq X h-1 X cm-2). Dexamethasone reduced net potassium movement to 0 (-0.04 +/- 0.12 mu eq X h-1 X cm-2). These studies demonstrate that 1) corticosteroids stimulate electrogenic sodium absorption and 2) aldosterone, but not dexamethasone, inhibits neutral NaCl absorption and stimulates active potassium secretion. The effects of mineralocorticoids and glucocorticoids on electrolyte transport are not identical and may be mediated by separate and distinct mechanisms.

Maintenance of potassium homeostasis during potassium depletion appears to involve an active potassium absorptive mechanism in the distal nephron. Direct demonstration of such a pathway in the distal tubule of the rat has been lacking. The purpose of the current study was to examine the hypothesis that an ATP-dependent active transport mechanism plays a role in potassium absorption by the rat distal tubule. We utilized in vivo microperfusion techniques in Sprague-Dawley rats maintained on a regular diet of low-potassium diet for 3-4 wk. The effect of a selective inhibitor of the gastric H-K-adenosinetriphosphatase (ATPase) (Sch 28080, 0.1 mM) was tested in distal tubules of both groups of rats. Distal tubules of normal rats secreted potassium. Sch 28080 had no effect on this net potassium flux. In contrast, distal tubules of potassium-deficient rats absorbed potassium. Sch 28080 abolished this potassium absorption and produced a small hyperpolarization of the lumen-negative transepithelial voltage (VTE). The change in VTE can be explained by a concomitant increase in potassium concentration in the late distal tubule. These results are consistent with the presence of an H-K-ATPase in the distal tubule of potassium-deficient rats.
