ABSTRACT SMA Negeri 3 Tualang, Kab. Siak is one of the schools in Siak Regency, Riau. This search describe preservation and maintance activities which are carried out as an effort to save information in the library material collection of SMA Negeri 3 Tualang, Kab. Siak library. To find out of the activities carried out by the library of SMA Negeri Tualang, Kab. Siak, the author conducted research through qualitative methods. In finding this information, an interview was conducted with one of the librarians of SMA Negeri 3 Tualang, Kab. Siak to get information about the activities of preserving and maintaining the library collections at SMA Negeri 3 Tualang, Kab. Siak, Riau. The results of this study explain that the factors of damage to library materials in the library of SMA Negeri 3 Tualang, Kab. Siak, Riau are such as bookworms, mice, dust and humans. Efforts made to prevent damge such as cleaning dust regularly, providing camphor around the library and collection shelves, and providing warning and sanctions for damage caused by students and attempts to repair damage by photocopying damage collections pages and restocking. Objective – The purpose of this study was to explore in the current academic library environment, the relationship between library collections data (collections’ size, expenditures, and usage) and faculty productivity (scholarly output). The researchers also examined the degree to which new and existing library metrics predict faculty productivity. Methods – Demographic data (e.g., faculty size, student size, research and development expenditures), library budget data (e.g., collection expenditures), collection use data (e.g., full-text article requests and database searches), and publication output for 81 doctoral granting universities in the United States were collected to explore potential relationships between research productivity, collection use, library budgets, collection size, and research expenditures using partial correlations. A hierarchical multiple regression was also used to ascertain the significance of certain predictors of research productivity (publications). Results – A correlation existed between the number of publications (research productivity) and library expenditures (total library expenditures, total library material expenditures, and ongoing library resource expenditures), collection size (volumes, titles, and ebooks), use of collection (full-text article requests and total number of references in the articles), and research and development expenditures. Another key finding from the hierarchical multiple regression analysis showed that full-text article requests were the best predictor of research productivity, which uniquely explained 10.2% of the variation in publication. Conclusion – The primary findings were that full-text article requests, followed by library material expenditures and research expenditures, were found to be the best predictor of research productivity as measured by articles published.

This study aims to reveal the implementation of library material procurement in IAIN Batusangkar Library, this study uses qualitative methods by collecting data in the form of observation and interview. Based on the findings it can be seen that IAIN Batusangkar Library in the process of procurement of library materials has 3 methods of application; (1) Procurement of library materials through purchases to vendors is done once every year (2) Procurement of library materials through through gifts / donations from internat and eksernal parties. (3) Procurement of library materials through deposits such as scientific papers, thesis, thesis, proseding and others. Procurement of library materials through donations / gifts from prospective alumni IAIN Batusangkar or students to be graduated should the book will be donated determined by the library or students are given another option to contribute money that will be used for the purchase of library materials, it is useful to overcome the literature not required. Should be in the procurement of library materials through the deposit all the lecturers / employees must know that they are obliged to deposit the results of his works and give sanctions if not donate to the library. Recommendation from the author to the Library IAIN Batusangkar Library IAIN Betterangkar should make policy management materials library written as the basis or guidance of library material management implementation starting from user analysis, selection, procurement, weeding to the evaluation for all activities directedKeyword: acquisition, IAIN Batusangkar Library

This paper aims to find out how library material selection activities in the development of collections in the university library are high. The library as an information provider unit always develops collections to meet the information needs of its users. As the development of science and information technology has an impact on the development of library collections with more complex information content which is a consideration in the development of library collections, the more challenging challenges of library selection as an effort to build a library collection that is strong and right on target for the user community. The method used in this study is descriptive in the form of literature review by taking secondary data obtained from several literature or literature studies (Research libraries) that are relevant in accordance with the problems discussed by reviewing and analyzing then described descriptively. The results of the discussion of this article are to show that library material selection is included as one of the important factors needed in the development of authority in library material selection at the college library. The provisions regarding the selection are regulated according to the type and structure of the library organization in question and are guided by the collection development policies and work procedures that have been set. With the selection of activities this helps the selector in choosing materials that will be used as library collections and becomes one of the activities that greatly determines the quantity and quality in developing collections in the library. Through this selection, it is expected that the collection of quality and relevant collections can be achieved according to the needs of the users. So if library material selection does not refer to the collection policy guidelines and work procedures that have been set, the quality in the development of collections in the library is not in accordance with user needs. collection. Werden qualitative Verfahren bei der Planung und Gestaltung von Lehreinheiten im Fachbereich Pflege favorisiert, so werden auch subjektive Theorien transparent, die das Pflegegeschehen unterschwellig beeinflussen. Ziel handlungsorientierter Unterrichtseinheiten im Fachbereich Pflege ist, diese gezielt im Sinne des neuen Pflegeparadigmas zu beeinflussen.
