SummaryTo provide an overview on social media for consumers and patients in areas of health behaviours and outcomes.A directed review of recent literature. We discuss the limitations and challenges of social media, ranging from social network sites (SNSs), computer games, mobile applications, to online videos. An overview of current users of social media (Generation Y), and potential users (such as low socioeconomic status and the chronically ill populations) is also presented. Future directions in social media research are also discussed. We encouragethe health informaticscommunity to consider the socioeconomic class, age, culture, and literacy level of their populations, and select an appropriate medium and platform when designing social networkedinterventionsforhealth.Little isknown about the impact of second-hand experiences faciliated by social media, nor the quality and safety of social networks on health. Methodologies and theories from human computer interaction, human factors engineering and psychology may help guide the challenges in design-ingand evaluatingsocial networkedinterventionsforhealth. Further, by analysing how people search and navigate social media for health purposes, infodemiology and infoveillance are promising areas of research that should provide valuable insights on present and emergening health behaviours on a population scale.

With the dawn of a new century, there is an emerging and exponentially accelerating force for global, societal, and organizational change. The socio-cultural and economic turbulence, the fast-paced technological developments are leading people towards a search for meaning especially at work. An average individual spends most of their adult life working and therefore seeks meaning via their work. This implies that our workplaces are one of the most important determinants of our well-being. Spiritual approaches to work are on the rise among today's working population. People search for solutions to be more grounded and not to get lost between the tensions created by their external world. Krieger underlines that there is clearly a deep crisis in human affairs at all levels from the individual to the organizational and to the societal. In this respect, this chapter aims to highlight the importance of spirituality in the workplace and discuss the role of spiritual leadership in the search for meaning both in the individual and the organizational realm.

“Between 2005 and 2012 more than one third of couples who got married in the United States met through an online dating site. Online dating was the single biggest way people met their spouses. Bigger than work, friends, and school combined.” Aziz Ansari, (2015).Romantic relationships have drastically changed in today’s world, affected by the role of social media and deeply changing the way we interact with each other. The way we approach one another might seems standard today, but importantly differs from what people did even just decades ago. The percentage of people meeting online keeps rising while traditional ways of finding your partner are constantly decreasing.Online dating transformed our romantic lives; single people today have more romantic options than ever. The new trend of online romantic relationships leads to various questionings. Why do people decide to use social media to interact with each other rather than approaching someone in the street and invite him/her for diner? The issue of online self-presentation, the necessity of body language, and how does this change affect us in finding our life partner? It is this change we want to focus on, to try and find out how the rise of online dating drastically affected the art of finding a companion. The aim is to intent to understand the different intentions behind social media when concerning romantic relationships. We can ask ourselves for instance, do people search today for long term connection when chatting on the net or maybe more alternative motives.Of course, the rise of social media implies some new challenges and risks that are necessary to mention, we will mainly focus on how social media negatively affects the beginning of romantic relationships.Throughout the paper we will first focus on 5 focus points based on related work to the topic, in order to organize the information. The aim is to understand the connection between romantic relationships and social media, how do we present ourselves online, media richness, the Initiation of social ties on social media and finally analyzes the initiation of romantic ties on social media. We will discuss prior research and go further into our research questioning focusing on the negative impact of this new kind of romantic relationship by conducting a survey and analyze how people perceive the role of social media in their own romantic life. People have become so used to using social media that a more traditional way of dating is less and less considerable nowadays. Using social media to approach someone has become the new norm, and maybe the reason why we should be more alert and consider the negatives impacts it has on the initiation of romantic relationships.

Today in a globalized society the need for word substitutions while speaking on sensitive topics has increased. People search for milder alternatives to express their opinions whenever they feel their words might sound abrupt or offensive. These substitutions are called euphemisms.

At first sight one might suppose that these expressions are too ordinary, but in fact they possess a strong persuasive character. Thus, the subject of this article is to identify the main functions of euphemisms in modern society. The article also aims at determining which social and cognitive factors regulate our choice of these substitutions.

In the theoretical part of the research different views on the phenomenon are outlined.

The main method used in this work is descriptive analytical method, based on the description of euphemisms from theoretical point of view with the subsequent analysis of achieved results. Besides, the method of contextual analysis has been applied.

As data for analysis different euphemistic expressions have been studied.

An overall study shows that in modern life honest debate has turned into a rare phenomenon.

One of our assertions is that the use of euphemisms primarily presupposing good intentions so as not to hurt a listener’s feelings, in modern life has acquired completely a different purpose. Today people use euphemisms to sound more persuasive instead of simply sounding polite.

It should be noted that for a deeper understanding of the role of euphemisms they should be studied within a specific discourse. Thus this study will require a further look at the problem applying a more contextual approach to its analysis.
