Wireless networks are computer networks that are not connected by cables of any kind. The use of wireless network enables enterprises to avoid the costly process of introducing cables into buildings or as a connection between different equipment locations. Wireless networks are susceptible to many attacks. One such specific attack is a black hole attack in which malicious node falsely claiming itself as having the fresh and shortest path to the destination. Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANET) are used for communication among Mobiles and roadside equipment’s. MANET, is a form of Mobile ad-hoc network, to provide communications among nearby Mobiles and between Mobiles and nearby fixed equipment, usually described as roadside equipment. Each Mobile equipped with MANET device will be a node in the Ad-Hoc network and can receive and relay others messages through the wireless network This paper attempts to resolve this issue by designing a dynamic source routing (DSR)-based routing mechanism, which is referred to as the cooperative bait detection scheme (CBDS), that integrates the advantages of both proactive and reactive defense architectures. Our CBDS method implements a reverse tracing technique to help in achieving the stated goal. Proposed system helps us in defending against the black hole attack without any requirement of hardware and special detection node.

Abstract: MANET (mobile ad hoc network) is considered to be a network with no centralized control. This network typically faces two major challenges related to routing and security. Both these issues affect the performance of this network to a large extent. The black hole attack belongs to the category of active attacks that are launched to reduce the network throughput and other parameters. The research works carried out in the past used different techniques to isolate malicious nodes, but with the inclusion of extra hardware and software tools. The various techniques for the security in MANET are analyzed in terms of certain parameters. Keywords: MANET, Black Hole, Security Techniques

Mobile Ad hoc network is a temporary network. It helps to communicate two or more devices for short range. Routing Protocols are use to establish a communication in MANET. As it is a open network , it has many vulnerabilities from security point. Black hole Attack is one of the major concern in MANET. In this paper, we have implemented Black hole Attack in random mobility environment and analyse its impact on MANET using various parameters for single and multiple connection in MANET. Black hole attack disturbs one of the connection in the network while remaining connection are unaffected. During our analysis, we found that performance result of black hole attack in multiple connection network give a similar kind of output mentioned in various research paper related to gray hole attack, which will make difficult to analysis the type of attack in the network.

Mobile ad-hoc network is a self-governing network, consists of group of nodes that communicates with each other through wireless links. As it is a wireless network, so it is subjected to various attacks. There is one attack which is very dangerous called Sybil attack. In Sybil attack, attackers or malicious nodes uses multiple identities to disrupt the communication between the nodes by capturing necessary and important information and creating misunderstandings between the nodes. In this paper some measures are described to prevent Sybil attack.
