For most students and junior researchers, writing an abstract for a poster or oral presentation at a conference is the first piece they may write for an audience other than their university tutors or examiners. Since some researchers struggle with this process we have put together some advice on issues to consider when writing a conference abstract. We highlight a number of issues to bear in mind when constructing one’s abstract. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3126/kumj.v11i3.12518 Kathmandu Univ Med J 2013; 43(3):262-265

The Third International Conference on Green Energy and Environment (The 3rd ICoGEE 2021) was organized by the Faculty of Engineering – Universitas Bangka Belitung together with some co-organized members such as the Faculty of Engineering – Universitas Tadulako, Faculty of Engineering – Universitas Bengkulu, Faculty of Engineering – Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji, Faculty of Technology and Science – Universitas Jambi, MIPAnet and Asian Federation of Biotechnology (AFOB). We planned The 3rd ICoGEE 2021 to held on September 29th – 30th, 2021, in Pangkalpinang, Indonesia. However, the COVID-19 pandemic that is still engulfing various countries has hampered diverse gathering and traveling activities. Therefore, The 3rd ICoGEE 2021 has been held virtually using the Zoom Meeting platform. The 3rd ICoGEE 2021 is a scientific conference involving various disciplines that aims to create innovations related to the development of science and technology to protect energy and the environment. Another goal of ICoGEE is to build a collaborative network between government, practitioners, and academics to solve problems in the energy and environmental sectors. Thus, this year’s ICOGEEE carries the theme: “Innovation Science and Technology Innovation for Sustainable Development Green Energy and a Cleaner Environment.” Although held online, this conference was attended by about 150 researchers, engineers, and scientists from various institutions. There are more than 60 institutions from nine countries: Indonesia, India, Viet Nam, Japan, Spain, China, Malaysia, Thailand, and Cyprus, participating in The 3rd ICoGEE 2021. The conference consists of two parts: keynote presentation and oral presentation. There were 114 papers (after the review process) divided into three topics: Green Energy and Application, Environmental Science and Technology, and Energy and Environmental Management. During the oral presentation session, the participants were divided into academic groups according to the topic. We are very grateful because, in 2021, The 3rd ICoGEE has keynote speakers from different countries and institutions who are experts in energy and environmental aspects. Our great honor is that five experts gave excellent keynote speeches: Prof. Misri Gozan as Vice President of Asian Federation of Biotechnology, Associate Prof. Dr. Oki Muraza from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Prof Taufik from Cal. Poly. State University, Prof. Ocky Karna Radjasa as Deputy Chairman of Earth Sciences - LIPI, and Prof. Jatna Supriatna as Vice Chairman of the Belantara Foundation. Although The 3rd ICoGEE was held virtually, the conference can still achieve its primary purpose or benefit. All manuscripts published in the proceeding have been through a rigorous review to meet the requirement of high-quality papers. The committee wishes to acknowledge speakers and participants who attended this virtual conference. We are beyond glad as this pandemic situation, which has been going on for more than a year, would not let their spirit down to keep participating in this conference. Plenty of thanks are given to all persons who have helped and supported this conference. Warmest Regards, Chairman of Organizing Committee Herman Aldila Conference Committees are available in the pdf

Congratulations! If you are reading this chapter, you are likely preparing a poster for a scientific conference. This means that your conference abstract was accepted and that you have been invited to give a poster presentation. In this chapter, we focus on the various sections of the poster and how to write them. In chapter 10, we highlight the visual attributes of the poster (layout, font size, color schemes, etc.). By the end of this chapter, you will be able to do the following: ■ Address the correct audience in your poster ■ Write the major sections of your poster ■ Use bulleted lists and graphics appropriately ■ Add title, references, and acknowledgments to your poster As you work through the chapter, you will compose the text and graphics for your own poster. The Writing on Your Own tasks throughout this chapter guide you step by step as you do the following: 9A Prepare to write 9B Draft your poster Methods section 9C Draft your poster Results section 9D Draft your poster Discussion section 9E Draft your poster Introduction section 9F Add your poster title, author list, acknowledgments, and references We begin by asking you to read and analyze a poster that we created based on the journal article by Vesely et al. (2003) regarding aldehydes in beer. Journal articles usually include far too much information for a single poster; hence, in the poster in figure 9.1, we include only a fraction of the information presented in the full journal article. (For the full article, see excerpts 3A, 4A, 6A, and 7A.) The hypothetical poster focuses on what Vesely’s group might have presented early in their research project, specifically, the methods that they developed to analyze their samples. A black-and-white version of the poster is presented in figure 9.1; a full-color version of the poster is available on the Write Like a Chemist Web site. Exercise 9.1 guides you in the analysis of the poster and lays the groundwork for the rest of the chapter.

This is extremely relevant and very important both in theoretical and practical dimensions, the problem was at the center of the discussions of the international scientific conference, which took place on May 6-7, 1996 in Lviv. The mentioned conference was one of the main events within the framework of the VI International Round Table "History of Religions in Ukraine", at its meetings 3-6, as well as on issues of outstanding dates in the history of the development of religious life in Ukraine on the 8th of May: "400 "the anniversary of the Brest Union", and "400th anniversary of the birth of Peter Mohyla"
