Abstract EASTERN STAINLESS Type 317L is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless containing low carbon (0.03% max.) and an addition of molybdenum (3.00-4.00%). This steel was developed primarily to resist more effectively the attack by sulfurous acid than is provided by some of the other competitive stainless steels. Its proven ability to resist corrosion had broadened its use considerably and now it is used for many other industrial applications. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as creep. It also includes information on high temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-453. Producer or source: Eastern Stainless Steel Company.

Abstract Avesta Polarit 317LMN is a low-carbon, higher-molybdenum austenitic steel frequently used for flue gas desulfurization service. The alloy is a fully austenitic stainless steel with excellent resistance to corrosion in chloride environments and nonoxidizing acids. It is significantly stronger than most low-carbon stainless steels and its structural stability makes for good weldability. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on high temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-465. Producer or source: AvestaPolarit AB. Originally published as Avesta Stainless 34LN, October 1985, revised July 2001.

Abstract Nirosta 4429 is a low-carbon, high-nitrogen version of type 316 stainless steel. The low carbon imparts intergranular corrosion resistance while the nitrogen imparts both higher strength and some increased pitting corrosion resistance. It is recommended for use as welded parts that need not or cannot be annealed after welding. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on high temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, and joining. Filing Code: SS-787. Producer or source: ThyssenKrupp Nirosta.
