Abstract Type 309 (UNS S30900) is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel widely used for elevated-temperature services. It has a good combination of oxidation resistance and corrosion-resisting properties. The alloy is essentially nonmagnetic when annealed and become slightly magnetic when cold worked. It is intended primarily for high-temperature applications at 816 deg C (1500 deg F) or higher where resistance to oxidation and/or corrosion is required. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and tensile properties as well as creep. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, and joining. Filing Code: SS-896. Producer or source: J & L Specialty Steel Inc.

Abstract Armco 321 is an austenitic nickel-stainless-steel with the carbon stabilized by titanium for welding and elevated temperature service. It is useful when the weldment is not annealed after welding. This alloy is nonmagnetic when annealed but is slightly magnetic when cold worked. It has excellent resistance to corrosion and oxidation, possesses high creep strength, and may be used at temperatures up to 871 C (1600 F). Titanium is added to this alloy to impart substantial immunity to intergranular corrosion. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, tensile properties, and shear strength. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-810. Producer or source: AK Steel Inc.

Abstract J and L type 405 has marginal stainless corrosion resistance. It is used primarily as a structural material. It is serviceable in continuous service up to 704 C (1300 F) and in intermittent exposures up to 816 degrees Celsius (1500 degrees Fahrenheit). It does not harden appreciably when air cooled from high temperatures where some austenite can exist. It is used in structural parts that are not annealed after welding. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as creep. It also includes information on high temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, and joining. Filing Code: SS-749. Producer or source: J & L Specialty Steel Inc.
