Abstract CARPENTER SAMSON EXTRA is a case-hardening alloy mold steel expressly developed to give an excellent combination of easy hobbing, good machinability, and high strength for long runs in the molding of plastics. It is ESR melted which makes it outstanding for its cleanliness; therefore, it has exceptional polishing capability. Samson Extra is designed specifically to provide excellent wear resistance after it has been properly carburized and hardened.
