The Yorùbá News, since its inception in 1924, was an admiration to many. Its informative function, which covered variety of fields relevant to the grassroots, cannot be overlooked. Despite the series of scholarly writings on The Yorùbá News, much work has not been geared towards a comparative study of the newspaper with any other be it old or contemporary. In the light of this, this essay therefore attempts a comparative study of The Yorùbá News and Aláròyé, a fast-selling contemporary Yorùbá newspaper. Four editions of The Yorùbá News and two editions of the Aláròyé newspapers are selected and content-analyzed using postmodernism theory. It is observed that The Yorùbá News distanced itself from aesthetics and total bias to the grassroots while Aláròyé newspaper foregrounded aesthetic splendor and grassroots biases in its editions. In this study, language, content, and headings/headlines are employed as measures of our comparison.

The article deals with the interpretation of the copyright considerations regarding the concept of an intellectual advertising text as a type of a secondary text and its features.The paper gives the author’s consideration of intellectual ad as a variation of a secondary text. Intellectual Ad text is regarded as a text-resume to any novel, a short description of its contents, heroes’ references, some information of an author etc. The Paradigm of composition features of the studied texts is complemented by special language content (saturation) which becomes apparent in the ad by methods of manipulation skillful tricks and language influence. Intellectual ads are qualified as creative, bright and attractive, effective and easily memorable ones, performed verbal messages and sent to the potential readers in accordance with the requirements of publishers.

Innovations in technology have resulted in increased use of tablets, mobile devices, and applications as augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems for children with complex communication needs (CCN). Although research has been conducted on the specific characteristics of AAC technologies, many interfaces remain replications of prior communication devices with little consideration of the features of newer platforms. A greater concern is that these interfaces may not be based on empirical evidence or derived from key developmental language theories. As such, these interfaces may place additional demands on children with CCN instead of supporting their development of language content, form, and use. The purpose of this paper is to discuss potential interface supports for AAC systems that capitalize on current technologies and draw upon key tenets of developmental theory.
