The new issue of Migration Letters reflects again on the complexities of a post-Covid 19 world, characterized by the overlapping of old and new migratory experiences, divided along old and new configurations of racial, ethnic and religious stratification. This issue includes several topics whose relevance in the inclusive recovery we wish for, has already been highlighted. These include the securitization of migration (Stefancik, Némethová and Seresová); the continuing relevance of global remittances (Biyase, Fisher and Pretorius); the structures of exclusion in naturalization process (Catherine Simpson Bueker); the health conditions of refugees (Mendola and Busetta) and the practices of ‘othering' during the Covid-19 pandemic (Lumayag and Bala). The articles in this issue also focus on the integration and irregular migration in the South of Europe (Hüseyinoğlu and Utku; Cela and Barbiano di Belgiojoso; Kobelinsky and Furri; Terzakis and Daskalopoulou) as well as in affluent EU countries like Austria (Rauhut). Finally, two important contributions reflect on the gender perspective, a most relevant approach needed to counterbalance the gender bias in much of Covid analysis so far. These articles analyze in particular ethnic minorities’ fertility practices in Southern Europe (Carella, Del Rey Poveda and Zanasi) and gender role perceptions among minorities in England and Wales (Zuccotti).

Gender differences which generats gender role do not need to be refused as long as they do not cause undesirable impacts. However, the problem is that gender role creates unequality structures in particular aspects such as can be found in Marital Laws. Some sections of Marital laws are considered gender bias for women. For instance, section 31  verse 3 and section 4 are categorized as irrelevant sections to build gender as well as human rights equality which been recommended by CEDAW convention (Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination Againts Women) and Act no 7/1984. Therefore, these efforts should be taken to establish the Act or the regulation based on gender perspective to achieve equality and justice for both sexes (men and women) in all aspects particularly in a family relationship.

Background “Conversion therapy” practices (CTP) are organized and sustained efforts to avoid the adoption of non-heterosexual sexual orientations and/or of gender identities not assigned at birth. Few data are available to inform the contemporary prevalence of CTP. The aim of this study is to quantify the prevalence of CTP among Canadian sexual and gender minority men, including details regarding the setting, age of initiation, and duration of CTP exposure. Methods Sexual and gender minority men, including transmen and non-binary individuals, aged ≥ 15, living in Canada were recruited via social media and networking applications and websites, November 2019—February 2020. Participants provided demographic data and detailed information about their experiences with CTP. Results 21% of respondents (N = 9,214) indicated that they or any person with authority (e.g., parent, caregiver) ever tried to change their sexual orientation or gender identity, and 10% had experienced CTP. CTP experience was highest among non-binary (20%) and transgender respondents (19%), those aged 15–19 years (13%), immigrants (15%), and racial/ethnic minorities (11–22%, with variability by identity). Among the n = 910 participants who experienced CTP, most experienced CTP in religious/faith-based settings (67%) or licensed healthcare provider offices (20%). 72% of those who experienced CTP first attended before the age of 20 years, 24% attended for one year or longer, and 31% attended more than five sessions. Interpretation CTP remains prevalent in Canada and is most prevalent among younger cohorts, transgender people, immigrants, and racial/ethnic minorities. Legislation, policy, and education are needed that target both religious and healthcare settings.

This article describes a simulation activity designed to teach students about the wage gap. The wage gap is an important topic in many sociology classrooms, but it can be difficult to convey the accumulated disadvantage experienced by women and racial/ethnic minorities to students using in-class discussions, lectures, or assigned readings alone. This is particularly true on college campuses that may draw their students from more affluent areas. Classroom simulations, however, provide an opportunity for students with all types of backgrounds to engage their sociological imaginations. In our simulation—Intersectionopoly—we use a modified version of Monopoly based on the wage gap and racial/ethnic minorities’ experiences of everyday life to illustrate how members of different racial and gender groups experience disparities in earnings. Unlike other versions of stratified Monopoly, this simulation more closely mirrors the subtle nature of discrimination in the contemporary United States.

<p>Tulisan ini bermaksud mengkaji tentang implementasi kurikulum pada pendidikan dasar yang berbasis pada kesetaraan gender. Untuk maksud tersebut, penulis melakukan penelitian kualitatif. Dengan melihat berbagai fenomena bias dan diskriminasi gender yang selama ini membudaya, termasuk dalam dunia pendidikan menjadikan upaya untuk membangun kurikulum berperspektif gender menemukan relevansinya. Pendidikan dasar, sebagai upaya membangun pengetahuan, keterampilan  dan sikap sejak dini menjadi hal penting dalam sosialisasi dan penanaman keadilan gender.Dari hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, dapat diketahui bahwa implementasi kurikulum berperspektif  gender ini bisa dilakukan  melalui  beberapa pendekatan, baik secara implisit, eksplisit,  perubahan maupun aksi sosial sebagai upaya dalam meminimalisir bias gender yang ada dalam pendidikan, tentunya dengan berbagai formulasi yang ditawarkan.</p><p><strong>Kata kunci: kurikulum, pendidikan,  gender</strong></p><div class="Section1"><p><em>B</em><em>A</em><em>S</em><em>I</em><em>C EDUCATION CURRICULUM IN A GENDER PERS- PECTIVE. This paper  intends  to examine the implementation  of the curriculum in primary education based on gender equality.  For that purpose, the authors did a qualitative  research. By looking at t</em><em>h</em><em>e various </em><em>of bias phenomena  and gender discrimination  that is widespread, including in the world of education is making  efforts to build the curriculum based on gender perspective finds its relevance. Primary  education, as an effort  in building  the  knowledge, skills and attitude  since early phase becomes an important  thing in the socialization and instilling  the  gender justice. From  the  results of research that has been done, it can be noted that the implementation of the curriculum based on gender perspective can be done through a number of approaches, either implicitly or explicitly, changes, or social action in an effort to minimize  the gender bias that exists in education, of course with the variety of formulations  that are offered.</em></p></div><p><strong><strong><em>Keywords</em></strong><em>:  curriculum, primary education, gender</em><br /></strong></p>
