Abstract Chemical and galvanic corrosion experiments at 35 C show that ductile vanadium is resistant to corrosion in substitute ocean water. It is also resistant in 60 percent sulfuric and 20 percent hydrochloric acids but corrodes rapidly in nitric acid solutions. Vanadium is less noble than stainless steel and copper and more noble than aluminum, magnesium and steel (SAE 4130) in substitute ocean water. 6.3.18

Abstract CRONIFER 1815 LCSi is a silicon-containing, low-carbon, austenitic chromium-nickel steel; it is used in industrial chemical installations and equipment. Because of the addition of silicon, this steel is highly resistant to concentrated nitric acid (67% and higher) and to nitric acid solutions containing oxidizing agents. It has good strength, ductility, impact values and weldability. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: SS-406. Producer or source: Vereingte Deutsche Metallwerke AG.
