Development of information systems in management education is an urgent problem to implement information technology in the education area. The primary objective of the study of this problem is to determine the theoretical foundations of information systems. Subject of the article is devoted to methodological aspects of information systems for creating the information systems profile and building the user interface. The paper presents the principles of construction, the structure of the profile and requirements to user interface. The source reflects the results of studies in the research work "Scientific and methodological support of information systems planning research in the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine on the basis of the Internet», № s.r. 0109U002139.

Despite the potential of Strategic Information System Planning (SISP) to reduce cost and improve quality, hospitals have been slow to have strategic plans on Information Systems. Our objective was to explore which organizational characteristics influence SISP in healthcare. Data on Information Systems plans from the HIMSS analytics database was combined with organizational characteristics data from the American Hospital Association. Logistic regression analyses on a sample of 2,495 hospitals revealed that hospitals with system membership and for profit status had a greater likelihood of selecting ‘computerized medical records’ (OR=1.88, OR=6.60 respectively, p<0.05), ‘decreasing medical errors’ (OR=7.02, p<0.05), ‘resolving integration issues’ (OR=1.36, OR=0.15 respectively, p<0.05), ‘migrating towards a paperless environment (OR=1.66, OR=8.28 respectively, p<0.05), and ‘reducing the number of software vendors’ (OR=1.78, OR=0.23 respectively, p<0.05) as their Information System plans. System membership and ownership status are associated with SISP. An understanding of the hospital characteristics that may impact Strategic Information Systems Planning, managers would assist managers in making informed decisions about planning and implementing Information Systems at their hospitals.

Many hospitals in Taiwan have started to encounter new and fierce competition as a result of the enactment of the National Health Insurance Policy in 1995. Hospitals should strive to use information technology (IT) strategically to improve their competitive advantage and meet the dynamic challenges in this competitive environment. This study adopts the Technology-Organization-Environment framework to understand the effects of contextual factors (e.g., environmental uncertainty and information intensity) and information service competence on the effectiveness of strategic information systems planning (SISP) to improve hospital management efficiency. A field survey was conducted using questionnaires distributed to accredited hospitals that serve patients from different regions/districts and with academic teaching qualifications/capabilities. These hospitals represent approximately a quarter of all hospitals in Taiwan. The findings show that the environmental unpredictability and business competence of IS executives are negatively related to the two SISP constructs: IT participation in the hospital planning and alignment of the IT plan with the comprehensive hospital plan. In addition, the findings demonstrate that information intensity has a significantly positive relation to both aforementioned SISP constructs. Finally, both constructs justify the significant positive correlations with the use of IT in increasing competitive advantages and improving the satisfaction of customers and end users. This research intends to guide the healthcare industry in raising competitive advantages to improve the operational efficiency of hospital management in today's highly digitalized environment.
