Research of manufacturing cell design problems is still pertinent today, because new manufacturing strategies, such as mass customization, call for further improvement of the fundamental performance of cellular manufacturing systems. The main scope of this article is to find the optimal cell design(s) from alternative design(s) by multi-criteria evaluation. For this purpose, alternative design solutions are mutually compared by using the selected performance criteria, namely operational complexity, production line balancing rate, and makespan. Then, multi-criteria decision analysis based on the analytic hierarchy process method is used to show that two more-cell solutions better satisfy the determined criteria of manufacturing cell design performance than three less-cell solutions. The novelty of this research approach refers to the use of the modification of Saaty’s scale for the comparison of alternatives in pairs based on the objective assessment of the designs. Its benefit lies in the exactly enumerated values of the selected criteria, according to which the points from the mentioned scale are assigned to the alternatives.

AbstractThe background this time is how the scoring system is still objective in the thesis trial system, therefore withthis decision support system, the objective assessment will become a definite scoring system, and will beable to help examiners provide the best advice to take. decisions to be taken during the student thesis trial. The method used in this research is to use quantitative methods, by conducting a librarian study and thencombined with data taken from student participants in the thesis examination, with the library studymethod, it will be possible to explore this research and data processing will also be maximized. Manysystems use the AHP algorithm method to make decisions that are difficult to make, using the AHP methodcan be taken into consideration in making decisions, because data processing using the AHP method willprovide the best advice for making an important decision. This research will produce a system proposal andhow the data is obtained, then how the data is processed to produce a system proposal, which is best formaking decisions about students who are currently passing their thesis exams or not, with the proposedsystem will greatly help the examiner take decisions that were previously objective. Keywords: Decision Support System, Thesis Session, Pass, AHP.

Healthcare waste management is an essential field for both researchers and practitioners. Although there have been few studies using statistical methods for its evaluation, it has been the subject of several studies in different contexts. Furthermore, the known precarious practices for waste management in developing countries raise questions about its potential barriers. This study aims to investigate the barriers in healthcare waste management and their relevance. For this purpose, this paper analyses waste management practices in two Brazilian hospitals by using case study and the Analytic Hierarchy Process method. The barriers were organized into three categories – human factors, management, and infrastructure, and the main findings suggest that cost and employee awareness were the most significant barriers. These results highlight the main barriers to more sustainable waste management, and provide an empirical basis for multi-criteria evaluation of the literature.

To achieve high efficiency in a robotic manufacturing system, an optimized layout arrangement and material flow path design are important due to the large percentage of product cost that is related to material handling, equipment positioning, material flow path, and products variety and volume (flexibility). Facility layout problem (FLP) can be considered as a multi-criteria problem due to presence of the qualitative criteria such as flexibility and the quantitative criteria for instance total cost of handling material. In this paper, we combined a well-known facility layout algorithm (CRAFT) with Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) technique and decision matrix method to facilitate a multi criteria evaluation. The proposed approach aims to incorporate qualitative criteria in addition to quantitative criteria for evaluating facility layout patterns. A case study on a robotic system for manufacturing plate type oil coolers reveals the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Focusing on the road-railway level-crossings of the urban, basing on the attribute mathematics methods, the access safety influence factors of the railway level-crossings are analyzed. Basing on the analytic hierarchy process method, the assessment indexes, which impair the level-crossings system safety status, are set. Firstly, the attribute measurements of every single-index are calculated by mean of the construction of attribute measurement functions. Secondly, according to the similarity function theory, the similarity weights of the influence factors are defined, so as to assess the multi-indexes measurements objectively. Finally, make use of the confidence criterion to recognize the level-crossing system safety. Taking one of the railway level-crossings in Dalian as an example, the assessment results show that the attribute recognition result would not be affected by the index weight, namely, the weight values of the assessing indexes are considered as the same. The study shows that the method is feasible, reliable and easy for the synthetic safety assessment of the urban railway level-crossings safety
