Machine learning, neural networks, and metaheuristic algorithms are relatively new subjects, closely related to each other: learning is somehow an intrinsic part of all of them. On the other hand, cell formation (CF) and facility layout design are the two fundamental steps in the CMS implementation. To get a successful CMS design, addressing the interrelated decisions simultaneously is important. In this article, a new nonlinear mixed-integer programming model is presented which comprehensively considers solving the integrated dynamic cell formation and inter/intracell layouts in continuous space. In the proposed model, cells are configured in flexible shapes during the planning horizon considering cell capacity in each period. This study considers the exact information about facility layout design and material handling cost. The proposed model is an NP-hard mixed-integer nonlinear programming model. To optimize the proposed problem, first, three metaheuristic algorithms, that is, Genetic Algorithm (GA), Keshtel Algorithm (KA), and Red Deer Algorithm (RDA), are employed. Then, to further improve the quality of the solutions, using machine learning approaches and combining the results of the aforementioned algorithms, a new metaheuristic algorithm is proposed. Numerical examples, sensitivity analyses, and comparisons of the performances of the algorithms are conducted.

Facility layout is not only the premise of production, but also a breakthrough for manufacturing industry to realize energy saving, environmental protection, and low entropy development. On the one hand, considering the interaction between product process routes and facility layout, a joint optimization model is proposed. The model aims to minimize the total logistics cost and consider the global optimization of facility layout and process route planning. On the other hand, considering the application of low entropy concept in facility layout, the analytic network process (ANP) is used to evaluate the low entropy layout. In the choice of the final facility layout, the algorithm results and expert knowledge are considered comprehensively to make up for the shortcomings of the model in the design of qualitative indicators. The algorithm innovation of this paper is to use genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) to search the solution of product process routes and facility layout simultaneously, to ensure the overall optimal solution of the two decision variables. Finally, an example is given to compare the joint optimization results with the independent optimization results, and the effectiveness of the joint optimization method is verified.

This industry, established since 2009, is one of the industries for making raw crackers with various kinds of crackers, which is located in simo angin-angin village, sidoarjo city which produces various kinds of crackers, namely casandra crackers, rose crackers, braid crackers and made with quality flour and fuel. to oven, namely with the steam obtained from the boiler / steam boiler. This study aims to design and suggest improvements to the facility layout properly and the flow of materials smoothly, so that the material travel distance is not too long and can reduce the alternating flow of the production process material in CV Andi Jaya with the Activity Relation Chart method with the application blocplan. One indicator that can determine how good a Layout is is by comparing the total moments in the Layout. From the results of the calculation of total moment efficiency using BLOCPLAN shows better results, where there is an increase of 0.52% from the existing condition or initial layout.
