To effectively predict the rolling bearing fault under different working conditions, a rolling bearing fault prediction method based on quantum particle swarm optimization (QPSO) backpropagation (BP) neural network and Dempster–Shafer evidence theory is proposed. First, the original vibration signals of rolling bearing are decomposed by three-layer wavelet packet, and the eigenvectors of different states of rolling bearing are constructed as input data of BP neural network. Second, the optimal number of hidden-layer nodes of BP neural network is automatically found by the dichotomy method to improve the efficiency of selecting the number of hidden-layer nodes. Third, the initial weights and thresholds of BP neural network are optimized by QPSO algorithm, which can improve the convergence speed and classification accuracy of BP neural network. Finally, the fault classification results of multiple QPSO-BP neural networks are fused by Dempster–Shafer evidence theory, and the final rolling bearing fault prediction model is obtained. The experiments demonstrate that different types of rolling bearing fault can be effectively and efficiently predicted under various working conditions.

The health condition of the rolling bearing seriously affects the operation of the whole mechanical system. When the rolling bearing parts fail, the time series collected in the field generally shows strong nonlinearity and non-stationarity. To obtain the faulty characteristics of mechanical equipment accurately, a rolling bearing fault detection technique based on k-optimized adaptive local iterative filtering (ALIF), improved multiscale permutation entropy (improved MPE), and BP neural network was proposed. In the ALIF algorithm, a k-optimized ALIF method based on permutation entropy (PE) is presented to select the number of ALIF decomposition layers adaptively. The completely average coarse-graining method was proposed to excavate more hidden information. The performance analysis of the simulation signal shows that the improved MPE can more accurately dig out the depth information of the time series, and the entropy value obtained is more consistent and stable. In the research application, rolling bearing time series are decomposed by k-optimized ALIF to obtain a certain number of intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). Then the improved MPE value of effective IMF is calculated and input into backpropagation (BP) neural network as the feature vector for automatic fault identification. The comparative analysis of simulation signals shows that this method can extract fault information effectively. At the same time, the experimental part shows that this scheme not only effectively extracts the fault features, but also realizes the classification and identification of different fault modes and faults of different degrees, which has a certain application prospect in the research and application direction of rolling bearing fault identification.

As one kind of serious environmental problems, flow-induced noise in centrifugal pumps pollutes the working circumstance and deteriorates the performance of pumps, meanwhile, it always changes drastically under various working conditions. Consequently, it is extremely significant to predict flow-induced noise of centrifugal pumps under various working conditions with a practical mathematical model. In this paper, a three-layer back propagation (BP) neural network model is established and the number of input, hidden and output layer node is set as 3, 6 and 1, respectively. To be specific, the flow rate, rotational speed and medium temperature are chosen as input layer, and the corresponding flow-induced noise evaluated by average of total sound pressure level (A_TSPL) as output layer. Furthermore, the tansig function is used to act as transfer function between the input layer and hidden layer, and the purelin function is used between hidden layer and output layer. The trainlm function based on Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm is selected as the training function. By using a large number of sample data, the training of the network model and prediction research are accomplished. The results indicate that good correlation is established among the sample data, and the predictive values show great consistence with simulation ones, of which the average relative error of A_TSPL in process of verification is 0.52%. The precision of the model can satisfy the requirement of relevant research and engineering application.

Under the variable working condition, the fault signal of the rolling bearing contains rich characteristic information. In view of the problem that the traditional fault diagnosis method of the rolling bearing depends on the prior knowledge and expert experience too much and the low recognition rate of some faults with the single signal, one method of rolling bearing fault diagnosis based on information fusion under the variable working condition is proposed. Firstly, one test and multi-information acquisition system of the rolling bearing is built. Secondly, the metro traction motor bearing nu216 is selected as the research object, and to prefabricate the defects, the data of acoustic emission and vibration acceleration signals during the test of the bearing is acquired. Then, the original signal is processed and extracted by the wavelet packet decomposition, and the normalized feature information is fused by the convolution neural network. Finally, the two-dimensional convolution neural network model is established to diagnose the bearing fault of the metro traction motor under different conditions. The test results show that the intelligent fault diagnosis method of the subway traction motor bearing based on information fusion under variable working conditions can accurately identify the fault type of the bearing, while the load and speed change. When the neural network training set and the test set cover the same working conditions, the accuracy can reach 100%.

Timely sensing the abnormal condition of the bearings plays a crucial role in ensuring the normal and safe operation of the rotating machine. Most traditional bearing fault diagnosis methods are developed from machine learning, which might rely on the manual design features and prior knowledge of the faults. In this paper, based on the advantages of CNN model, a two-step fault diagnosis method developed from wavelet packet transform (WPT) and convolutional neural network (CNN) is proposed for fault diagnosis of bearings without any manual work. In the first step, the WPT is designed to obtain the wavelet packet coefficients from raw signals, which then are converted into the gray scale images by a designed data-to-image conversion method. In the second step, a CNN model is built to automatically extract the representative features from gray images and implement the fault classification. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated by a real rolling-bearing dataset. From the experimental study, it can be seen the proposed method presents a more superior fault diagnosis capability than other machine-learning-based methods.

Since the fault of marine gas turbine is difficult to predict accurately, making the rolling bearing as the specific object, a fault prediction model of the marine gas turbine based on Neural Network and Markov method is built through the data analysis, preprocessing and feature extraction for the rolling bearing history test data. First, it uses the neural network method to realize the health state recognition of the marine gas turbine. Then, the fault of the marine gas turbine is predicted by taking advantage of the fault prediction which is based on the Markov model. The results show that the efficiency of fault prediction for the marine gas turbine can be realized better through the fault prediction model constructed in view of the Neural Network and Markov. And it also has a significant practical value in project item.

Rolling bearing plays an important role in rotating machinery and its working condition directly affects the equipment efficiency. While dozens of methods have been proposed for real-time bearing fault diagnosis and monitoring, the fault classification accuracy of existing algorithms is still not satisfactory. This work presents a novel algorithm fusion model based on principal component analysis and Dempster-Shafer evidence theory for rolling bearing fault diagnosis. It combines the advantages of the learning vector quantization (LVQ) neural network model and the decision tree model. Experiments under three different spinning bearing speeds and two different crack sizes show that our fusion model has better performance and higher accuracy than either of the base classification models for rolling bearing fault diagnosis, which is achieved via synergic prediction from both types of models.
