Moving or dynamic object analysis continues to be an increasingly active research field in computer vision with many types of research investigating different methods for motion tracking, object recognition, pose estimation, or motion evaluation (e.g. in sports sciences). Many techniques are available to measure the forces and motion of the people, such as force plates to measure ground reaction forces for a jump or running sports. In training and commercial solution, the detailed motion of athlete's available motion capture devices based on optical markers on the athlete's body and multiple calibrated fixed cameras around the sides of the capture volume can be used. In some situations, it is not practical to attach any kind of marker or transducer to the athletes or the existing machinery are being used, while it is required by a pure vision-based approach to use the natural appearance of the person or object. When a sporting event is taking place, there are opportunities for computer vision to help the referee and other personnel involved in the sports to keep track of incidents occurring, which may provide full coverage and analysis in details of the event for sports viewers. The research aims at using computer vision methods, specially designed for monocular recording, for measuring sports activities, such as high jump, wide jump, or running. Just for indicating the complexity of the project: a single camera needs to understand the height at a particular distance using silhouette extraction. Moving object analysis benefits from silhouette extraction and this has been applied to many domains including sports activities. This paper comparatively discusses two significant techniques to extract silhouettes of a moving object (a jumping person) in monocular video data in different scenarios. The results show that the performance of silhouette extraction varies in dependency on the quality of used video data.

The article is devoted to the problem of the growing need of the mineral water fields’ exploitation process automation. The implementation of control systems and mathematical modeling methods can significantly reduce the fields’ structural integrity violation and pollution of aquifers risks. This research is especially relevant for the fields with difficult conditions of mineral waters occurrence, since the insufficient accuracy of determining the fields’ operating mode parameters can lead to a severe incident. The article describes a distributed mathematical model developed from the geo-filtration equation. Based on this model, a new method for assessing the mutual influence of the fields, the production of which is carried out from one aquifer, is presented. For a more detailed study of the operating mode parameters influence on the object a physical model of the reservoir was developed. The using of Arduino sensors and the developed software allows us to construct a 3D graph of the input action and its response at the different points of the object as temperature distribution. The simulation results make it possible to use the proposed model for the automatic control system synthesis.

Normally, most researches on phase calibration of shipborne USB system focus on the means of phase calibration. This article starts with the research on the channel of the system. The composition of the channel is introduced, and the characteristics of the channel is analyzed. Taking the channel of the field effect amplifier front-end as the research object, a mathematical fitting algorithm is used to derive the functional relationship between the phase of the field effect amplifier front-end and the working frequency. The actual calibration data is used for simulation analysis to obtain the fitting order of the function. Combining the phase-frequency relationship of the field effect amplifier front-end and the microwave self-checking phase correction of the field effect amplifier back-end, a new phase calibration method is proposed.

This paper presents application of Finite Element Method in designing of a vibroisolated object. A model of power generator of 113 MW was chosen for the analysis. Such the generator is used in one of power plants in Silesia district. Several frequency domain dynamic analyses aimed at assessment of influence of vibroisolation on acceleration level of the generator foundation were performed. Three different models of the generator were considered. For the purposes of verification of the obtained results measured vibration accelerations were used.

In the presented article the author asks how the essence of the relationship between such states of international relations as war and peace has changed under the influence of the trends of the XXI century. A clear empirical example for such an analysis was the modern Russian-Ukrainian war, a manifestation of which we see on the Donbass. This war was largely the result and manifestation of these new trends in international relations at both the regional and global levels. First of all, these trends and their destructive consequences are typical for the security sphere. From so the dilemma of war and peace takes on a new dimension and becomes one of the most pressing problems of the theory of war and peace and the theory of international relations. The purpose of this article is to understand how the essence of the relationship between such states of international relations as war and peace has changed under the influence of the 21st century trends. In order to properly investigate this problem, was chosen as an object, a striking manifestation of which we see on the Donbass. Research questions relate to changing approaches to understanding the dilemma of war and peace and the nature of the relationship between these states of international relations under the influence of the 21st century trends. To address this research challenge, a systematic review of contemporary research on various aspects of war and peace has been carried out. The answers are based on a study of the criteria for determining the state of war and peace and the determinants that influence the dynamics of change in these states. The study used deductive methods, comparative, political and conflict analysis, as well as neo-realistic and neoliberal approaches to treating the dilemma of war and peace. The article based on the assumption that the modern Russo-Ukrainian war became a consequence and manifestation of these new trends in international relations both at the regional and global levels. The conclusions drawn from this study require a conceptual rethinking and a new reading of the dilemma of war and peace, which are becoming hybrid. Therefore, understanding the new quality of these hybrid forms of war and peace is a very important and necessary task. To solve it, it is necessary to determine how the parameters of the relationship between peace and war have changed. Empirical observations show that one of the new features of this relationship is the blurring of the boundaries of war and peace. The objectives of the study are based on the discovery of a new content of the categories of war and peace and their interdependence due to the influence of 21st century trends in the modern system of international relations. The results of the study are based on the analysis of modern research on various aspects of the war and peace, as well as empirical data on the course of the Russian-Ukrainian war. This article provides an overview of current research on various aspects of war and peace, identifies the interrelationships, interdependencies, and boundaries between hybrid warfare and hybrid peace. The author tried to define the criteria for such a distinction between war and peace, based on the neoliberal and neorealist theory of international relations. The scientific novelty of this publication is that the author clarified the methodological reasons for the unresolved dilemma of war and peace in the current trends of the 21st century. The article concludes with a forecast of the consequences of the unresolved dilemma of war and peace for national and international security. Recommendations are given for a possible solution to the problem of war and peace on Donbass. The research presented in this article is an attempt to conceptually rethink and re-read the dilemmas of war and peace that are becoming hybrid. The article greatly expands the understanding of how the parameters of the relationship between peace and war have changed.

Underwater target acquisition and identification performed by manipulators having broad application prospects and value in the field of marine development. Conventional manipulators are too heavy to be used for small target objects and unsuitable for shallow sea working. In this paper, a bio-inspired Father–Son Underwater Robot System (FURS) is designed for underwater target object image acquisition and identification. Our spherical underwater robot (SUR), as the father underwater robot of the FURS, has the ability of strong dynamic balance and good maneuverability, can realize approach the target area quickly, and then cruise and surround the target object. A coiling mechanism was installed on SUR for the recycling and release of the son underwater robot. A Salamandra-inspired son underwater robot is used as the manipulator of the FURS, which is connected to the spherical underwater robot by a tether. The son underwater robot has multiple degrees of freedom and realizes both swimming and walking movement modes. The son underwater robot can move to underwater target objects. The vision system is installed to enable the FURS to acquire the image information of the target object with the aid of the camera, and also to identify the target object. Finally, verification experiments are conducted in an indoor water tank and outdoor swimming pool conditions to verify the effectiveness of the proposed in this paper.

Abstract Brown dwarfs in close-in orbits around white dwarfs offer an excellent opportunity to investigate properties of fast-rotating, tidally locked, and highly irradiated atmospheres. We present Hubble Space Telescope Wide Field Camera 3 G141 phase-resolved observations of two brown-dwarf-white-dwarf binaries: WD 0137-349 and EPIC 212235321. Their 1.1–1.7 μm phase curves demonstrate rotational modulations with semi-amplitudes of 5.27% ± 0.02% and 29.1% ± 0.1%; both can be fit well by multi-order Fourier series models. The high-order Fourier components have the same phase as the first-order and are likely caused by hot spots located at the substellar points, suggesting inefficient day/night heat transfer. Both brown dwarfs’ phase-resolved spectra can be accurately represented by linear combinations of their respective day- and nightside spectra. Fitting the irradiated brown dwarf model grids to the dayside spectra require a filling factor of ∼50%, further supporting a hot spot dominating the dayside emission. The nightside spectrum of WD 0137-349B is fit reasonably well by non-irradiated substellar models, and the one of EPIC 21223521B can be approximated by a Planck function. We find strong spectral variations in the brown dwarfs’ day/night flux and brightness temperature contrasts, highlighting the limitations of band-integrated measurements in probing heat transfer in irradiated objects. On the color–magnitude diagram, WD 0137-349B evolves along a cloudless model track connecting the early-L and mid-T spectral types, suggesting that clouds and disequilibrium chemistry have a negligible effect on this object. A full interpretation of these high-quality phase-resolved spectra calls for new models that couple atmospheric circulation and radiative transfer under high-irradiation conditions.

Suffixation and Grammatical Gender. The presence in the Spanish language of words like la silla (chair) and el sillón (armchair), el lago (lake) and la laguna (lagoon), la casa (house) and el caserón (mansion) or la corbata (tie) and el corbatín (bow tie), leads us to wonder if the grammatical gender change in these pairs of non-sexed nouns is justified due to a variation in the size of the object – a type traditionally studied as a dimensional genre – or if it is imposed by the suffix that is added to the root in one of the forms, irrespective of whether or not it is a modification based on the dimensions of the object. Under this approach, we will try to address a topic which pivots on flexive morphology and derivational morphology and to which the etymology of each of the analysed forms will have a great deal to contribute in order to draw conclusive results. Intentionally provocative, this study identifies weaknesses in mainstream educational leadership scholarship, and draws upon ‘new wave’ critical leadership studies to propose a new, potentially paradigm-shifting, direction for the field. The central argument is that educational leadership researchers, in focusing predominantly on how institutional heads and other formal ‘leaders’ may best ‘do’ leadership, are addressing the wrong questions and setting off from the wrong departure point. The unit of analysis should shift, it is argued, from leadership to influence, within a new research agenda that replaces surface-level, causality-assumptive ‘how?’ and ‘why?’ questions that have shaped mainstream educational leadership research for over thirty years, with more fundamental ‘who? and ‘what?’ questions, aimed at identifying who is in fact doing the influencing. An aspect of such inquiry is leadership scepticism and agnosticism, which confronts the question: Does leadership exist, or is it a myth that we have reified? A highly original feature of the proposed new research agenda is the adoption of the author's theoretical notion of a singular unit of micro-level influence as an ‘epistemic object’ – a concept derived from STEMM research, denoting a vague and undefined potential focus of inquiry that may (or may not) turn out to be significant.
